technological difference?? - slightly in USA's favour?? - not that i support war v's china!
Oh yes, China spends US$60billion compared to America's US$399 billion but all those extra troops will help a lot. If there was a war it would be very close.

It was liberal - he allowed shops, advertising from Western countries, grand hotels - he modelled Iraq on the West.
Very liberal! - Shame about freedom of speech!

Those he liked were those who belonged to his division of the faith.
Exactly, Iraq was the most secular Islamic nation in the world (possibly Turkey an exception). Osama Bin Laden despised Hussein because of his secular policies which is but one of many reasons why the claims of links to Al Qaeda are blatant nonsense.

Even if you disregard the anti communist attitudes of the Americans you would have to consider China a threat. Without bearing communism in mind its natural for a nation to want to thrive and achieve power, combine that with a nation which suffered for centuries from humiliations by colonial European powers and the US as well as its neighbour Japan and then consider the belligerent communist regime and its a very real threat. Now consider that fact that 1 in 5 of the worlds population is Chinese and you realise that no nation in history has been in a better position to achieve world domination.
And it has an ever-increasing economy - it will soon challenge America's.

A rich country, with a huge population and world-dominatory ambitions

Yes i remember reading recently that the economy of China is set to overtake the US by 2010, though that seems a bit premature, possibly it meant within a decade of 2010.

The US (and allies) would probably win, but the planet might be destroyed before then.

It would certainly not be no contest.

Quite a small percentage, which is why I supported his removal, but that does not change the fact that Iraq was the most liberlal Middle Eastern country while he was in power.

Probably - few Middle Eastern countries allowed the women to go around Burkha-less or allowed Western products to be sold in their shops or non-religious literature to be sold.
