    OPr even worse, he could be my new dissertation supervisor :afraid: [although I don't think he is a specialist in my field of study]

    woooo woooo...IM A STOKIE. however, i consider myself a 'posh stokie' seeing as i dont say 'luke, book and cook'...i say 'luk, buk and cuk'. but, i still have the very annoying, and somewhat bland accent frm this hideous part of the country.

    i think u dudlayyy-ersss have gt it easy. at least u dnt gt called 'wanabe scousers'

    Well yes, I've seen some soils diss's get supervised by glaciologists! I'm not bothrred who I get as long as he helps.

    The first thing my supervisor said to me was 'I have no idea what this is about'...and then he when I changed it from landslides to disease and climate change he said it agaiiiiiin haha

    Yeah, but I've had problems with getting data and have changed a few times over the summer lol.

    Plus mnone of the journals I need are online, so that's not helping either. I am determined to get it finished by the end of November though. [pls I haven;'t got lengthy lab sessions to fo]

    Hey, you all going to Aber? Or will be? How important is it that I speak Welsh? I mean, i've been learning because I love the language but I only started about a month ago so i'm a long way off. It's bloody hard... Is is widely spoken? I dont want to seem like an ignorant English person...

    I wouldn't say its particularly important. The majority of the English people I know can speak next to nothing apart from road signs and 'happy birthday'! You won't ever really need to speak Welsh whilst you're here (or at least I haven't in the last 2 years or so...). I know a few people that have been learning bits and pieces of it, but that's more because they're interested in learning rather than because they have to.

    Erm, quite a few here are English, or from a different country entirely.

    I know the basics, like please thankyou, and the roadsign kind of stuff (welcome, slow, etc.) but that's mainly because my girlfriends cousins are welsh, and taught me them
    You don't need to know any welsh to come here (a few people have a hard enough time speaking English, let alone welsh :tongue: )
