it doesn't make you thick! not at all. you've got to remember that it only measures certain things, and that there'll be loads of people with good GCSE and Alevel grades, or who are generally good students, who dont score as highly as they hope on the UKCAT. if your worried about it, try to find out which uni's place less importance on UKCAT in their admissions policies and apply there - dont let that put you off if thats really what you want to do!
I heard some students talking at South Hampton on the medical school open day las week - apparently they dont place much importance on those scores.

I know of a chap who was supposed to get the train to Southampton, to cut a long story he short, he got on the wrong train. When he got there he realised his mistake and he called the person he was meeting. He told them that he was going to be a bit late because he was on the wrong side of town.

I did my UKCAT (for 2008 entry) in October...and I got 683.3 - I don't think it really matters that much (not if your grades are like 10A*+, especially at King's).

GOOD LUCK!

Question. Are you allowed pen and paper for working out? I'm struggling to do the quantitative bits in my head.

Please say yes

I got 505 =|
was shocked at how thick I am LOL
This is why I love these tests (and am thankful that I escaped them).

So many of you lot are so used to being top of your class, sailing through GCSEs and A-levels with high marks, it's interesting to see what happens why you come up against a discriminative test.

Booked mine!

Anyone know whether, if you really screw it up, it's possible to retake UKCAT?

You can only take it once in one admissions cycle. However, if you have to reapply, you have to take it again in that admissions cycle.

Ah ok, thanks for clearing that up. I had visions of it becoming an A-level-esque ''if I don't get 100%, I'll just retake it...''

You never know, some people will shell out £85 for a one day course supposed to make their passage into med school easier...

At least for £60/£70 you get the chance at something a bit more concrete! (I was going to say tangible, but obviously you can't 'touch' your UKCAT score... unless I've missed something?!)

I know. I hate boring people.

I wanted to do mine this week, while my brain is still 'in gear', but the test centre is all booked up...

Are you doing anything specific to prepare?
