You don't want to look too much like a communist, there are already loads of them on campus. I got hassled by one trying to sell me a socialist magazine. Rather than point out the irony that he wanted capitalistic money in exchange for his magazine, I just walked off. He was wearing red. Was it you?

So many times last year did he try to get me to buy one. I am fairly socialist minded, but even still! I used to love it though, he'd ask me to pay like 50p for a newspaper, I'd say I only had like 20p, he'd then offer me it for 20p.. at which point I pointed out that it was corrupt him trying to sell at 50p.

    Loved it

They really do. There's enough going against with the whole "Oh my God, not communism!" view that everyone seems to have already. Last thing we need is pestering salesman

I can't be bothered with any of the political societies. SUs have enough pompous self important people in them without needed to resort to extreme political views. My previous university was the same (Sussex) although strangely my university before that didn't have any of it (Nottingham). Mind you, you don't get a uni much more capitalistic than Nottingham. Hell, they're planning on selling some of their sports grounds to Hilton so that Hilton can build an executive hotel for conferences!!

Edit: Mind you, I did find it funny that there was someone claiming to be communist, handing out flyers when within 50m of him there's a Costa Coffee *and* a Starbucks.
