It is a real shame; Nigel has led our countries campaign to leave the EU for decades, but as he says he has achieved his aim.

If anyone deserves one, Nigel deserves a peerage!

I wouldn't say he has led the campaign for decades, there have certainly been bigger flag carriers than Farage arguing to leave going back to the 70s through to the early 00s. People such as Benn, Castle, Thatcher, some of the tories such as IDS in the 90s. I think Farage has been a leading figure for a while, but not for decades.

He certainly doesn't deserve a peerage.

Why, because you don't like him?

mainly because peerages are given out too much easily these days. But he's too divisive and hasn't done anything important IMO.

He's done more than most of the political peers

If you recall I did try to ban political peers so that should answer your question.

You'd also ban everything you disagree with if you could

That's a very weak come back given that it is in most people's natures to stop things that they disagree with. Liberalism is not a natural disposition but one developed though philosophy.

Besides, I wouldn't ban everything anyway.

Well, he hasn't, he's arguably won a non-binding referendum, his aim would be triggering Article 50, officially leaving, negotiating trade deals and then being able to justify Leaving based on the UK being financially better off. Then his job is done.

No he does not, even though others who have been honoured such as Sir Philip Green are less deserving.

We should have a small 2nd chamber which is elected if we are to have one at all.*

He's been the face of euroscepticism for years, built UKIP up to be perceived as a threat by the Conservatives and thus to force a referendum and then, having done all that, he then helps to win said referendum to get us out of a crumbling museum called the EU - he absolutely deserves a peerage.

Must say it's surprising they're only on 8%. I'd expect the promise to get Britain back into the EU quite attractive to many.

Having said that, we all know what happens when the lib dems make promises...

    And offputting to others

Right. FTSE 100 is now higher than right after the Brexit result was announced and the slightly weaker pound sterling brings in more European investors. Where are the morons who predicted a total downfall and destruction of the British economy a couple of weeks ago?
