Im saying because the item is being resold, it could invalidate the guarantee

Oh, I thought you meant you were on the website I was buying off Lol

Hmmm that's risky then? What if the second buyer isn't covered by the warranty, I could potentially end up with a dead useless card and £75 out of pocket

Pretty much, you would need that receipt and he needs to guarantee that it is in working order somehow

Does the £500 include the monitor, keyboard and mouse?

It does, yes.
Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to buy a HP G series laptop for uni, but I don't know which one to go for. Here are the options I'm thinking of looking at: here

My budget is under £500 preferably somewhere around £400-£450 and I like the look of this especially as for only £439 you can get a free bag, printer and wireless mouse with it too.

There's also this I saw on Tesco website which also has Bluetooth included in it (which is also what I'm looking for too), I just need some help deciding which laptop to buy.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Looking for a portable laptop with gaming performance, around £1000 budget. any recommendations? thanks.

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
Country of purchase: UK (london)
Budget range: Around £1000
Purpose (netbook, ultraportable, mainstream, gaming, desktop replacement, etc.): Gaming, for student life in halls, mainstream.
Screen size preference: None
OS preference (Windows/ Mac/ Linux): Windows
Gaming requirements (example games and desired fps/settings): Guild Wars 2, Battlefield hopefully, Dota 2, high FPS as possible. (40?)
Performance requirements (video, CAD, etc.): MS office
Method of computer support (office supplier, college bookstore, self support): No preference
Brand preferences and reasons (already owned accessories, familiarity, business compatibility): Asus, PCspecialist.co.uk, Just good recommendations i've heard.
Any particular style that you like (examples are great): Who doesn't like back-lit keys, nice sleek design pref. (not that bothered)
Which of the following qualities would you prefer? (Choose one, the other, or balanced)
Long battery life -vs- Low weight: low weight
Build quality -vs- Low price: Balanced, I would like something that is good value for money, yet is durable and has good reputation.
Low noise/heat -vs- High performance: high performance, but does not blow up.
Would you pay a premium for something that has:
High resolution screen: No
A great keyboard: Maybe
A great touchpad/mouse buttons: not really
Great audio: No
List any features that are critical: (e.g. Optical drive, USB 3.0, SD card slot, ethernet port, HDMI port, bluetooth, VGA port, removable battery, glossy screen, matte screen, etc.)
USB port, ethernet port, HDMI port preferably, removable battery. Surely laptops these days come with these things?
Thanks guys!

That's going to be quite hard to be honest, thats about £100 or gone for those.............so £400 for the build.
Are you ok with going with AMD? cos thats the only way you can get your triple core cpu and a decent build.

Firstly why HP G series only?
Also you should pick a laptop based on your needs and budget....so what is the purpose of the laptop and the usage?

Where did you get that question and answer thing :s-smilie:, kinda old to be honest cos I've never seen it before.

The cheapest I can find a GT650 with a 3rd i7 is from Medion for £729 http://www.medion.com/gb/electronics/prod/MEDION%C2%AE++AKOYA%C2%AE+P6815+15.6%22+Laptop+%28MD98061%29/30014011A1?category=notebook_15
though it was cheaper before, the laptop with a GT670M comes above £1,100.

These are next 2 best things I can find from MSI.

http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/MSI_GT780DXR-814UK_1187562.html

You should also consider investing in a good cooling pad and maybe replacing the internal thermal paste with a good one for better temps.

Not sure about those laptops, but you should get access to the back panel and the heatsink which should cover the cpu and gpu, replacing it with arctic mx-4 or silver 5 would improve the temperature a lot, but check up if that voids the warranty.

From what I recall the coolmaster u3 is good, movable fans at the bottom, kinda expensive.

http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/ARIANET+Radeon+HD+6870+1024MB+GDDR5+PCI-Express+Graphics+Card+?productId=51178

Is that an ARIANET brand on a 6870? As in they're the manufacture? Has anyone bought Aria's own branded GPU before?
Been thinking of replacing the stock AMD Cooler on a x3, but I've got nothing OC or unlocked and the max I've seen it is around 29-30c and the motherboard around 34c.

I've got 4 fans on my case and I think they're all exhaust fans at the moment, should I move some around? and what would be the best configuration?

Currently:

Front: 1x 120mm
Top: 1x 140mm 1x 120mm
Side Panel: 1x 120mm, thinking of getting another one
Well, pulled the trigger and bought the Antec 1200 with a EVO LABS Switching 800W PSU. If I can I think I'll sell the PSU for a better branded one me thinks.

I'd prefer not to go with AMD, I'd rather with intel. I don't mind just 2 processors, just looking for a faster computer with more RAM etc. Only need about 500gb of storage, average mouse and keyboard, 2 monitors, windows 7

Ooft, I didn't know keyboards would be that much..!

Any recommendations for monitors?

The Steelseries are highly recommended, but if you want cheaper alternatives look at the Corsair K60, Razer Blackwidow or Coolermaster.
These are marketed as gaming keyboards which is why I didn't mention them.

If you want mechanical boards be prepared to pay over £50.
For non-mechanical I would suggest looking at the Microsoft Sidewinder X4.

I don't know a great deal about monitors but this was popular a few hours ago on HotUKDeals: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005JRIPC4/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0CPB5KQJ185W4YCF9P1Z&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=317828027&pf_rd_i=468294
Is it true that the best air coolers are better than the best water coolers? Namely the Thermalright Silver Arrow SB-E and Noctua NH-D14 vs Corsair H100?

I've been recommended the Samsung Syncmaster RZ 22", one of the few true 120Hz monitors and goes for a very reasonable price. Steelseries FTW.

Well AMD are the only ones who do 3 core cpus, well it seems like you need to get an i3.
And in all honesty if a mouse and keyboard would set back £12ish, than the 2 monitors will set you back even more AOC E950SWDA 18.5" LED Monitor 5ms 1366 x 768 the cheapest brand new monitors which cost £72 x2 is £144, your killing your budget :/

Your temps are perfectly fine to be honest, they are quite low.

Front- intake
top- exhaust
side- intake

don't you have a rear one?

It's got good airflow, so make sure to use the fan space and get silent ones, you definitely good like the TX750 from Corsair.

I would disagree personally, water cooling is far better than their equivalent, the temperatures are much better, much better for overclocking, much better in terms of noise as well, but certainly do require a fairly large case to hold the larger radiators.
