Hi guys.

Sorry no mark scheme from me tonight - I forgot to collect a paper from our exams office before I came home.

Hopefully someone else can fill the void.

Mr M

Edit: I see Jr is in the house.

Can you tell me how many marks I've dropped?

7. Used sin(171) to get volume of pyramid = 9.67, because 171 was less accurate than 8.68..

DROP 1

8. Wrote dr/dt=-kroot(r) so wrong answer, method marks?

DROP 5 OUT OF 7 PROBABLY

4. Only got 2 stationary points.

DROP 3 PROBABLY

10. Couldn't prove (iii) but got the expansion correct.

DROP 2 OR 3

Good grief. I have now spawned TWO monsters.
6. For the differential equation question I I put dr/dt=(square root(5))/k at the start does that means I got whole question wrong :///

Ah-ha. I'll take a look.

7: lose 2 probably

4: lose 3 probably; 4 would be harsh.

9: If you've not stated x=0 then yes, lose 1

8: should have been r= (3/2(3.24t+1.8))^2/3. If you had this then you shouldn't lose a mark.
For the differential equation I didn't simplify the r bit (left it as 2/3r^3/2) how many will I lose?
9. Mr M Jr

How many marks lost:

i) integrating tan2x as ln secx/2
ii) only giving one set of coordinates for stationary points
iii) giving the right equation of r in terms of t but not having r on its own (something like (2r^3/2)/3

Are there any questions that people are unsure about and would like a second opinion on?
For the balloon question I got almost there but had (2/3)root of 4...t+2...)
Do you still think I will get most of the marks?
Also, will I get ECF marks in part 2?

I've looked now. Are there any questions that people are unsure about and would like a second opinion on?
12. How many marks do you reckon I would lose for reading it an directly proprtional isntead of inverself proportional? All 7 and then the 2 on the next one :/?

can you give us an estimate at grade boundaries? How difficult the paper looks?
thanks.

Yes, for the differential equation, I put dr/dt = (square root of the radius)/k and got the whole thing wrong will I get any metho mark ? Thank you

What was the correct answer to 7) iii?

I did (AB)(AC)sin171.3 x 1/3 x 1/2 x AD. Is this the right method?

Hi Mr M! I read it wrong for the balloon and said it was directly proportional instead of inversely proportional. How many marks do you think I would lose?

how many marks do you think i would have lost for the rate question as i did directly proportional instead of inversely? will i still get one?

i did the same
20. I don't suppose anyone got a Ln of a Ln at any point?
