Just saw on physio room that Sturridge isn't due to return until Feb.

Haven't seen reports of this anywhere else so hope they got it wrong but it wouldn't suprise me if it was true.

James Pearce (or the echo anyway) said the club were hopeful he'd be back for the first of the Chelsea games

Hummels was often bailed out by his teammates at the World Cup too, he's just the best of a bad bunch available.

Would you apply that logic to Marco Reus?
He's not best of a bad bunch, basically pay off Godins/Miranda's release clause end of season, give a fat contract and hope for the best.

Even Alderweireld would be a decent option.

If that's true, maybe it would prompt us to spend big on a striker.
Anybody we buy in this window is surely under to assumption that Sturridge will soon return.

My XI for tonight: Mignolet, Can, Skrtel, Lovren, Manquillo, Henderson, Gerrard, Markovic, Lallana, Ojo, Lambert.

    Lovren against Akinfenwa. Lol.

I think we'll go strong in defence but give some of the younger players a shot.

I expect Danny Ward to feature in goal, maybe Rossiter and/or Williams in midfield and one of Yesil or Sinclair up front.

Rossiter and Williams are a good shout, can't see Yesil or Sinclair playing, though. Lambert will get used imo.

Mignolet – Emre Can, Škrtel, Sakho – Manquillo, Henderson, Lucas, Marković – Gerrard, Coutinho – Lambert.

He's got the line-up spot on a couple of days before for the last 2/3 games, so going on that looks like we're putting out a strong team

Just in case you guys haven't seen Gerrard's full interview with the club here it is.

It's really emotional especially towards the end, I got really teary-eyed. His final match is going to be so emotional and sad. :cry2:
