Looks like I am going to be in theatre 3 days a week...
Meh I've just started general medicine 2 days ago and all I've been doing so far are rounds with F1s. The registrar who is sort of our lead tutor is a stuck up b*tch who essentially told me to sod off today when I asked her where I could find a pair of sterilised gloves so I could do a cannula. I foresee a tough 5 weeks ahead of me.

I miss my GP placement. I was treated as a friend there and in many ways an equal. I reckon the stress in hospitals drives some people to being absolute dicks tbh.

You use sterile gloves to cannulate?

Nah, lectures are for texting FFCrusader from all of three feet away. We only have up to 60 people in a class, sleeping is noticed!

What kind of surgery are you supposed to be watching anyway? I haven't set foot in theatre in over six months, I'm having withdrawal symptoms here!
We are such model students :teehee:

Thanks guys - ooops I may have had a drink last night and have subsequently missed my neurosurgery lectures :O

Time for some celebratory food - I hope the medical school accepts "Birthday" as a good excuse for not coming in :p:

Happy birthday! Hope you have a great one!

I'll be 26 when I'm an F2... Ah well, at least people will stop commenting 'oh you look rather young don't you!' by then.

Sure you'll be fine, you can pretty much waffle your way through anything in Psych. Do be prepared to start forgetting lots of Medicine through this rotation though, but it is quite fun. Also you get to spend more time with patients rather than zooming through histories than in other rotations - a full pysch history takes an hour!

We have someone that either falls asleep (a lot) or is on facebook/skype the whole time.

They fell asleep during a presentation where there were 10 of us in the room, and we were about a metre away from the lecturer
    Oh thats rather embarrasing!

One of my friends will either pay full attention and write detailed notes during the lecture, or be asleep throughout the whole thing. Once she fell asleep, and it was the student election period for the medic-student-association-union-something so we had lots of campaign badges... We stuck them all over her during the lecture. It was tres amusing.

Probably fortunate that we have neurology and ophth alongside it in that case. I'm not particularly great at zooming through histories at the best of times so it shouldn't be too much of a struggle.
