I was talking about the book and not the second link which I agree cites there was an ultimatum, which I don't support. It also seems to describe a situation where the PM of the time went into war to meet his own political ambitions not because it was the right thing.

You seem to have absolutely no consistency on what international agreements should be honoured and which shouldn't.

No, I see it as this: Germany at the time was an ally, Belgium was a neutral country who we had agreed to protect. When two friends fight you don't hit the friend who started it but instead you get involved and talk it out. Germany were trying to attack France which we didn't object to. So we shoudl have made a deal with Belgium and Germany to help Germany attack France like it wanted but which would not result in a war between us and Germany which neither of us wanted. Instead the then PM decided he would have a greater shot of being reflected if we went to war which directly caused WWII.

Again, your history is dreadful, there was no alliance between the British and German Empires, there is belief that the Kaiser wanted one, but the closest you have to an alliance is the royal families being related.

Because there is no evidence to suggest I was going to be 'removed' by the House had I not chosen to resign myself.*
    (Original post by Jammy Duel)
So you were removed by the house? It's a simple either or case, you either were removed by the house, or you resigned before the house removed you. If it is neither care to tell me what the third option is that is not contained in either of those options.
Why not enjoy this fairly pointless argument over a pint?

I'll certainly enjoy a pint since you've offered, but I have no wish to engage any further in petty nonsense with JD.

I'll take that to mean that there is no third option

The third option is: why not join us for a pint.

    Nah

P.s. that is not a mutually exclusive option
