Which is exactly what Cesc does :yy:
:nope: Cesc doesn't keep a cool head. He's still too young. What we desperately needed against Spurs was too slow the game down and halt their momentum. Slow it right down and hold them in their own half. Sure that would've been difficult but none of our players were calm, every single one of them were panicked, they didn't trust themself, they couldn't slow the game down reasonably and hold on to win.

A player like Alonso could, he has both the winning experience and the wisdom that naturally comes with age to realise what is needed.

We're not in crying need of a midfielder though. Nasri fills in for Cesc when he is not fit. And Denilson/Ramsey can fill in for Wilshere/Song. We clearly need better backups in midfield, but it is not one of our major priorities given the strengths of the first 3. Also Ramsey deserves to be given the chance, because he can be quality. But Wenger will spend elsewhere in the squad this summer, I'm certain of it.
There'll be no major movement at Arsenal this summer. And the over-rated lad from Southampton doesn't count as major, btw. Everything is pointing to Wenger sticking with this team, he' even hinted at it himself.....

No thanks, you or Liverpool can have him. If we sign him i'll be p***ed off.
But expect Wenger to make a couple of signing with a couple of exist, not the massive overhaul everyone is calling for.

No, what he's said, as he does indeed every summer, is that he won't buy unless it adds something to the team.

    It's common sense.

There will not be no major overhaul this season if you think otherwise you are deluded he may make one or two signings but expect players like Diaby/Arshavin to be here next season.

Goodness gracious, the IQ in this thread has gone down drastically.

And why would we replace the player with the most assists in the squad?

In other words the team will still be stuck with the same bunch of bottlers.

Of course Arshavin is going to be here next season - he's one of our most creative players.

He will largely still be sticking with this team with one or two signings e.g Carl Jenkinson and Alex Chamberlain..................... .....................

I am almost 100% certain that we won't be signing Chamberlain.

Have to say I've never heard of Jenkinson either. If we were going to sign a random FL youngster I'd rather it was Dale Jennings.

Wenger is signing in the summer. He's only saying he won't because what will that do to the confidence of the current team?

If Wenger said he's going to spend, how would that affect the players? It wouldn't make them want to fight for their positions and prove that Wenger doesn't need to spend as they don't fight for the matches they play in.

I hope we don't sign Chamberlain, because that's just another young talent that 'We can see in a couple of seasons time'. Yawn. And what about Mayiachi and Wellington Da Silva? Can't buy 3 winger type players at the same age that have the potential to become great.

Those who know Wenger know that he is always quiet about transfers. No real speculation about a player, nothing, you might hear 'Arsenal are interested in player A' just as you would hear they're interested in every player that can kick a ball. And then all of a sudden on the Arsenal website you see they've signed player A.

You think Walcott can lead the line on his own?
He doesn't have to lead the line. RvP doesn't exactly lead the line. Messi plays alot of matches through the middle, I don't see him leading the line. Walcott's movement is deadly, and it's now or never for him to be a striker. (which is what he was originally signed as)

Theo looked so good when he drifted into the centre midweek, but once he stopped coming in, the threat he posed was massively reduced. His crossing so rarely reaches his target meaning that other than that shot across the face of goal that he always makes (making it plainly obvious to gk's) he often has little to offer out right. I'm not really convinced he has what it takes to play centrally but he needs to be given the chance, it's definitely worth a try against anyone that dares play a high line against us..

Who buys to detract something from the team? Thats such an obvious statement it hardly worth anyone making. Even buying the same player adds depth to the team.

As for T. Adams's suggestions, Contrao and Hazard will be ~£40million worth of players, when was the last time we saw Arsenal throwing that kind of money?

Besides the fact Hazard is playing at a Lille side looking at doing the domestic double in France so his price will be even further inflated.

Coentrao would probably command ~£6-8m, but we have far more pressing areas to strengthen than left-back.

I'm not convinced, with Walcott as striker crossers have no one to target so that dimension of the game is written off.As a result the team can then only play one way and that is through the middle and we have seen how ineffective that has been recently.

In the same world that Sagna cost £6m.
