In gastropods, describe how changes in the position of the osphradium as a result of torsion may benefit the organism. (2 marks)

Utilisation of fresh oncoming water by the gills and sensory organs.

:proud:

I am currently writing that one up. :p:

Ooh I ordered the funky text book so I can have more biology books on my shelves, and it may help revision. ;yes;

0 marks.

Always read the question and make sure you are addressing it. The first one isn't even a valid possible explanation of tortion according to my sources either.

You might get one, or half a mark :p:

The osphradium is the sensory organ. During torsion it moves from a posterior location to an anterior one. This means it is well placed to sample oncoming water, rather than water it's just left behind. this is especially useful as the osphradium is used to detect prey in carnivorous gastropods.
