Out of interest, what do people think the scorecard will be for government by the end of this century..

1800's.. election wins

Tory's: 6
Whig's: 7
Conservatives: 7
Liberals: 4

1900's election wins..

Liberal: 3
Labour: 8
Conservative: 15

2000 to date..

Labour: 2

I'd like to hope so but the statistics hide the fact that the key to victory is not be right wing, but to anticipate and adapt. Seven of those fifteen election wins come from 1951-1964 where we adapted and 79-97 where we forced a new consensus. It may not be as easy if Labour rejects the likes of Corbyn or offers something entirely new rather than the 1980's.

I think it will probably be another Conservative win, although I'm still holding out for a Whig revival.
