Think I've managed to get it sorted!

I've kept with my current settings for a while (Live EQ), bass +2 and treble +1 (on the actual speakers) and ramped the volume up by a few clicks on windows 7 - it now sounds pretty much as needed. Enough treble, lots of bass and still keeping the mids. Perfect!

Though I won't be able to have the volume ramped up a lot as it'll only annoy my parents, and possibly the next door neighbour!

    Yay!

Even on quieter volumes (12% through Windows 7, about 2/3 output on speakers) it still sounds pretty good - on "Live" EQ. Enough bass, whilst still having the mids and a bit of treble (I don't want loads of treble)

Earlier it was on about 35% through Windows and 100% through the speakers, sounded good but too loud to use at 10pm!

Ahh yes I was tossing it up between padded cell and live. Just padded cell sounded better for rap music so I went for that

Okay I use Live and it's good though I don't listen to rap, I listen to pop/dance - basically what's in the charts through the recent years.

This thread is 12 years old!

Oh I just love it when old DS threads get bumped back up!

(And for the record, my favourite crisps are Seabrooks Ready Salted, McCoys (all flavours except Cheese and Onion/Salt and Vinegar, and Nik Naks. )
    :yep:

I was surprised that fascist DS FS would allow the two 12 year old threads you mentioned to keep the recent replies, as they normally delete the replies and unbump the thread again when I reply to a thread that old in General Discussion even if the subsequent replies are decent ones! Must have caught them on a good day!

But then you'd probably be outed by phylo_roadking etc and the thread reverted!

    Phylo Roadking!

    I'm surprised you weren't oued!

Btw, I got a message back, from DMU Estates, with regards to the old nasty metal halide lamps (circa 1993). They said that they will be looking into whether it is feasible or not to replace the lamps with newer ones that are: (a) easier to access and (b) have spare parts readily available. The 21 year old metal halides do not fulfill either a or b!
