I agree, but when the Speaker does not care nothing is going to change, if advertising is to be stopped there needs to be sanctions against the members doing the advertising.

Ban on them being an MP for certain amount of time?? Perhaps a ban on the Party submitting anything for a period would be suitable, so that if the members are doing it and the Party leaders don't stamp down on it, then it's their fault... If members then don't listen, they should get rid of them imo.

A word on promoting the MHoC via other forum sites: don't.

It's obviously OK to promote on TSR (within site rules) or to friends by word of mouth or social media but Digital Spy and Reddit are not on.

I was unimpressed to arrive this afternoon to a PM from the head mod at the Other Place complaining about someone from TSR going over there and PMing members to promote this MHoC. If someone from there did that on TSR they'd be up **** creek without a paddle so I expect the same respect to be shown to them.

    Headteacher impression over.

I agree with those suggestion, telling members not to do something but not punishing the member for not listening will not work. I think we know who the member responsible is, knowing right-wing members did not receive the private message, the shortlist of possible members has only one name on it.

Does anyone see an end to the Southern Railway dispute, other than one where part of the solution includes the franchise being taken away?

The Momentum-supported candidates have won a clean sweep of all six seats on the CLP Division of Labour's NEC. This greatly strengthens Corbyn supporters within the party, as control of the NEC means control over rule changes - giving them the power to block any changes to the system used to elect Labour leaders, and potentially even to enforce mandatory reselections on CLPs in an attempt to see MPs deemed problematic to the leadership de-selected and replaced by pro-Momentum candidates.

We basically have mandatory reselection as it is, all MPs have to be nomiated to stand again, only it is a yes/no vote on if they should be the candidate and if it is a no vote (which it rarely ever is) then a full selection process starts where the MP is automatically a candidate (as I understand it)

Sorry Meenu reply to you got lost somehow. All my point was about is that I would be surprised if qq had gone off site as we have a pretty health membership right now, at one of it's strongest peaks since I joined I would go as far to say

I think CityMetric's summary of the mess today is pretty good. A huge part of the problem has stemmed from awful employment practices from Southern going back many, many years - relying on driver's goodwill to run Sundary services and knowingly employing fewer staff than they need, to the longstanding ire of the unions. This obviously means they're now in a ****ing dreadful position from which to negotiate an industrial dispute, and the DfT isn't helping. The only solution I could see that wouldn't involve the franchise being removed would be the state funding guards until the end of the franchise agreement at the taxpayer's expense - which would truly be an indictment of the utterly ridiculous system the Tories have burdened us with.

The practice is a lot more complicated than the theory. This is a good article on exactly how it works, why the NEC is crucial and also illustrates why we so rarely see MPs deselected at the moment.
