student loan days for me were glorious... the only 3 days of the year when my account balance did not start with a minus symbol...

paydays now just are not quite the same.. no special feeling because they come to frequently, and you know that you have traded your time for that money, so it does not feel like a treat..

(then again, neither should a loan, but...)

Man learning to drive is hard. I am terrible at it. Have had so many lessons in the past but gave up for 3 years and now I am back near the start again. I just cannot get the gear change/judgment right at junctions and roundabouts, that is the hardest part.
    Try an automatic? :innocent:

    Anyone watching the Darts?

Such a ludicrous spectacle, strangely entertaining though. Looks a proper laugh being there as well with the fancy dress and the walk ons
Taylor got beat. Interesting viewing that was.

I've booked my test now. So actually need to revise for theory.

I don't know I really need to knuckle down on a few things.
I've got my driving test on Wednesday guys! My time is 8.57am
nearly bang in the middle of rush hour. I'm quite nervous tbf.
When's your test? Must be next month I guess?

It's a bit strange when you think that 3 months maintenance loan is equivalent to 1 months full time work on the minimum wage.

A great perk though, I spent too much last time and didn't save as much as I'd like, this time I'm gonna scrimp and should be able to fund a holiday for after May exams

its crazy - the amount of money I have now, even though I am by no means very well paid, makes me question how I ever managed to live on a student loan

But then I never remember being that tight on money, and I always seemed to find disposable income to spend on having a good time..

I guess students outgoings, especially in first year, are so small, with only really rent and food as nessesities, that you can lead a pretty comfortable life with comparitivly little money..

If you get a job it's not too bad, my combined earnings from student loan & work in my last year of uni were £15k which isn't too shabby for a student. Problem is that the minimum loan isn't enough whereas the maximum is too much.

What always made me laugh is how so many people complained about never having any money to pay rent, buy food etc but they'd still go out 3 times per week.

In my first year, someone spent their entire student loan on a macbook and got kicked out of their halls for not paying rent. Words fail me.

I can be really bad with money sometimes, at uni I knew that if I wanted something i'd always be able to afford it so I spent so much money on crap. However if I needed to budget I could easily do so (like I am currently doing atm). So many people come to uni with absolutely no common sense.

I lived with a few narcissistic, judgemental, brand obsessed people in halls. It was like being in school again.

My friend went on placement last year and ended up owing nearly £2000 to payday loan companies as well. I have no idea how she got into such a mess but when she moved back here we sat down, went through all her bank statements and sorted everything out. They should really teach basic economics/budgeting skills in schools.

I can't really criticise others though. I've been burning through my monthly wages after the first week every time. Good thing is I don't have to pay for rent/dinner so I'm safe in that aspect.

Was the MacBook person a girl as well?

I was seeing this girl once and she took out a loan for a few grand (can't remember the amount) for no reason and spent it on ****. She knew she would have trouble paying it back as well. I'm laughing to myself now thinking about it, what a thick ****.

My sister is like this as well, always asking for money.

Nope. Football team captain, your standard LAD. Funny thing is he made his money back selling stuff which I probably can't discuss on here...
