I believe that refers to the academic year of 08-09.

They cannot determine the number of first year students before results day.
very true

people just relax, only a few more days left, whatever happens, happens

not to b a ranking whore or anything but imperial ranks higher than lse. however, i think lse has generally better rep for maths and eco related things.

THAT MEANS YOU ARE GETTING AN OFFER! (I think)

That's one of the ways you can fulfil the English entry requirements! So if you have not and you get an offer, it will say: "Obtain the required grade in one of the recognised English Language qualifications, listed on page 9 of the LSE UG Admissions Offer Pack 2009/10"
But English IS my first language although I also speak Chinese pretty fluently as well... And I still sat my IGCSE English 1st language exam in which I obtained an A*, so no idea wtf LSE is on about... Since I havn't sat this 'optional speaking test', what do you think they're gonna ask me to do? Will that decrease my chances of getting in?
Thanks for all the replies btw.

Hi,

I have the same choices.

Have you received a decision from Imperial yet?

i think that maths and economics would be more interesting and i also think that the imperial degree is a little too specialised if you are not sure about going into finance.

LSE email me a week before obtaining an offer about my english qualifications. After receiving confirmation from my head of 6th form and me that English is my first language I received an offer.

I don't want to get you excited but thats what happened to me.

Thanks very much man. I didn't actually mention that English was my first language though. I just mentioned that I had sat the English 1st Language exam. Whatever i'm being annoying... i think il just wait it out in frantic anticipation lol...

WOW! You've got an A* in English 1st Lang?!?!?! WOW! According to the website, you can get "International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) English as a first language with a grade B or better plus grade 2 in the optional speaking test"

http://www.lse.ac.uk/collections/und...quirements.htm

But maybe. But it's weird they asked you this if English is your 1st Language... As I told, personally I wouldn't be surprised if you get an offer this friday!

I took Alevels and I still have to fulfil the English Language requirements It's weird... this year changed one criteria from "Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English" to "Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English with grade B or better" and I got a C 4 years ago! So last week I took the IELTS, where I have to get a minimum score of 7.0 in ALL FOUR SECTIONS! But a 7.0 is a lower level than a Cambrdige Proficiency... anyway... my English is a bit rusty right now and I reckon I won't get a 7.0 in the writing part so I'll have to resit it!

Well... all in all... good luck on your prospect offer!

Could someone please tell me what the LSE offers/rejections cycle is for this week. I haven't kept up to date.

That said, this should be the last week for decisions right, so will there be both on Friday?
