How embarassing... The reason I have no enzyme is because I didn't ACTUALLY order it
Haha. One of the groups two floors below us ordered a load of enzymes the other week. Turns out their order got mixed up with one from my group - industrial quantities of dog food for Véronique's dog

I've had a pretty stupid day. I managed to confuse the workup procedure for one reaction with another. That prompted an unhappy postdoc who was determined that I'd ****** it all up. Looks like it might actually have worked, though. Time will tell.

R is at least better than S and more usable than C :p:

So ... my R code is running now but it is very slow. I cannot be bothered to optimise it so I am going to take a long lunch break.

I had a lovely morning on a really good course teaching me how to use Endnote X3. Then discovered in the lab we have Endnote 6. I mean, for goodness sake!!

Why are male lab monkeys incapable of giving a girl a compliment when she goes out looking nice?

I've been known to do it

Well clearly you're in the minority, because I went out with three male lab monkeys tonight, two of whom I've either been on dates with or been asked on dates with, and neither summoned up a single nice thing to say about the way I looked tonight, and I looked great (corroborated by my female flatmate). How do they ever expect to get a girlfriend?!

 But I don't want to date a feckless arts student

I probably shouldn't spam TSR when I'm still drunk, should I?

I think they're more likely to compliment your research project than your dress, that's probably their way of flirting.

I'm sure you looked wonderful. That said, I've been staring at two computer screens simultaneously for the last two hours trying to sort out this bloody presentation, so at the moment, I'm classing my eyes as thoroughly untrustworthy

Perhaps. I've always thought Athena has a very sexy... graph.

Urgh today is frustrating! I wasted so much time yesterday just mooching about with papers because I didn't have enough time to do PCR, but forgot that I'd have to spend the first hour this morning resuspending my primers and diluting things and I could have done it all yesterday and then got going straight away!!

I managed to fox IT for half an hour with java problems (the command would happily execute in bash, but not tsch...), turned out it was a rogue ? without quotes round it. I love informatics

Everything's being **** and not working, or is taking forever. I ran something down a column yesterday, which vanished in the process, so I'm having to do it all over again. This is from a reaction that was on all weekend - so running it again is a massive pain in the arse.

I tell you, if I don't get some sort of project-based good news soon, I'm going to start seriously reconsidering my plans for next year. I can't deal with this level of crapness.
