I know a bloke who travelled round europe for £1 for a flight on some budget aeroplane with a tent and a few pairs of clothes. The rest of the way he slummed, couched, and camped his way across europe! Granted he nearly died quite a few times, but it goes to show, if your brave, and resilient travelling doesn't have to cost much at all.

Anyway its gotta be southeast asia with 2k for two months, a bigger budget, and I would love to travel around south America for a couple of months

Russia.
And I some-how thought that you are Russian.
Moskva?...
Tomorrow at weekend evening Moscow again will go home from summer cottages and my town again will meet Moscow traffic jams. Every summer there are the same.

Well, considering I did it, I can give you an honest answer.

I went to Colombia, for 6 weeks, and then to Venezuela for 6 weeks. It was an incredible time - was taken prisoner, accused of being a British Spy (Ironic because I am a Communist, and do not support the British government). I got Dengue fever, went to hospital, survived, and lived to tell the story. I swam across the border, from Venezuela to Colombia, multiple times. I lived in the Jungle and wherever somebody offered me a place to stay. Not that I embrace it, but it is probably interesting to some; I stood in a Coca field in the middle of the Colombian Jungle. I also almost stood on a Cobra, carried a Machete everywhere I went, and made many friends whilst learning a lot of Spanish, along with keeping with me forever amazing memories and experiences which only too few will have.

Next Summer (2012), I am hoping to go to Uganda, volunteering to help people who suffer from HIV/AIDS. I sincerely recommend using the money to do good, while going somewhere different which will benefit and have a positive impact on your life forever.

It does not need to be a dream; make it a reality!

:gasp: Marry me?

I can't decide, I always travel on a tight budget so this is an enormous amount for me! I'd probably backpack through Asia or Africa until I run out of money. Aaah. I'm definitely doing it someday.

Sounds pretty exhilarating, but personally I would spend £2,000 NOT to have those experiences.

...where would you go? The £2000 would have to cover everything including flights, insurance, accommodation, food, shopping and entertainment. You could semi-cheat and say that you would earn some extra money while you were away.

I'm embarrassed to say I can't actually answer my own question yet, because I've got to think about it in-depth. However I do know that I would visit as many different continents and countries as I could.
I'd go to London for 5 nights.

Budget £700 for a Hotel, £30 for petrol to get there on the motorbike, I wouldn't spend anything on shopping, and the remaining money would go on eating out as there are some truely fantastic places to eat in London.

Well, I did not spend £2000 to have these specific experiences. They are merely experiences occuring at random by traveling in rural areas, in countries such as Colombia and Venezuela. I have been to many countries, the greatest time of my life was had in Venezuela and Colombia, even though it was a huge challenge, and to a large extent, a risk.

Oh, and it did not cost near £2000. The costs were the flights. Pretty much everything else was little, as I was staying with random people I met a long the way.

go around the middle east/mahgreb for 2 months when **** has cooled down. Otherwise maybe South America whilst missing out the big cities in Brazil.

£2000 isn't that much really.
depending on where you went and how sensible you were, £2000 could easily last you 2/3 months.

I'd do so many things!

Already have insurance, a few hundred left in Euros, and get cashback on flights.

With that in mind, this year I've already planned (or done) - travel, food, acommodation:
3 weeks in Greenland - £300
2 weeks in Egypt - £220
4 days in France - £90
10 days in Morocco, 6 days in France, Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar - £170
3 days in Germany - £60
6 days in NY - free.

So with that in mind, I now have £2000. So I'd add to that list:
Inter-railing Europe for a few months.
2 weeks in India.
A few months in the US, staying with friends and taking free lifts between states to make get-togethers

I'm thinking that duration and US flights alone would take up the bulk of that cash.
