    You said it is debatable!
It can be argued that equality creates a society that is better than a society that is richer, ideally you aim for a compromise. eg Branson gets more than the guy in Barnsley but does pay something towards his wellbeing.

wealth is only important in capitalism.

you and your ilk refuse to look at socialism outside of your capitalist minds and this is why you fail to see how good it is.

further conversation with someone as aggressive, ignorant and insulting as you is something i wont be wasting my time on.
Wealth is important in the real world.

I fail to acknowledge socialism because history (which is set in the real world) tells the story. Capitalism isn't some crazy philosophy; it is an interpretation of the real world.

It's nice to know I'm getting to you.

But a society that is richer means the poorest are also richer. I would rather be a relatively poor Brit than a relatively rich North Korean. Also, the richer the society, the more money is available to help the poorest. Dragging everyone to a lower level helps no-one.

socialism has never been implemented, so your statement is groundless.

Very true, but often if you were to offer one worker an increase of 15%, meanin everyone else in the firm got 20%. Or everyone gets 10%, research suggest vast majority would pick the equal option. Relative income matters to people in a country or area or region. Clearly in the long run the capitalist alternative is better but it requires short term sacrifice of the poorer in society, which is hard to expect of them as meanwhile rich get richer.

You have a very short memory. It has been tried, and every time it results in an oppressive government. That is why it hasn't been implemented; because it is incompatible with the real world as history has kindly shown us.

If you want to try your little experiment out, please do it away from these shores as I don't fancy living under an iron boot. We have enough of Big Brother over here already.

The minimum wage isn't successful in creating employment. Say I start a business (a small restaurant chain) and I can afford to pay employees £5.50 per hour, along with free Friday night dinners for the first month, but the government says I need to pay more which I simply cannot afford: the building, tax, expenses, ingredients, etc. I have a sixteen year old come to me, she needs experience for her catering course, extra pocket money, but I cannot offer her the job (despite her reassurance that it's enough for her) as I will be prosecuted. That's where the minimum wage fails young people.

Richer people shouldn't have to pay obscene levels of tax. Firstly due to living costs and commitments and secondly it's treating them like a cash cow. Tax as much is necessary (like everyone else), but enough is enough. If tax wasn't so high, fewer people would avoid/evade it.

In a free market, if consumers are unhappy with working conditions for employees they will take their money elsewhere, then the business will have to close down due to less money coming in. It's in a business' interests to have good working conditions for that reason, they will realise this so there is no need for reckless state intervention.
Minimum wage for a 16 year old is lower that 5.50

Hahahahaha. Good luck with that. I can't wait to see the next band of stinking dread-locked socialists marching through a town and showing everyone how silly they are. You missed your chance at OWS.

Nothing's going to change anytime soon. So in the meantime, enjoy using a computer capitalism provided for you.

If people stopped reading the tabloids and stopped believing everything the politicians tell them the country probably wouldn't be so cruel and disparaging to those who are less fortunate than they are. Now the haves cannot stand the have-nots.

So right wingers, who want to abolish the NMW, health and safety, working time regulations, working conditions regulations, safety standards for products, benefits.

This is what britain was in the 1800s, and will turn britain back into what it was then, the rich, feasting and partying while the poor suffer and starve. do you want to go back to working 20 hour days, for starvation wages in unsafe conditions, when you can be sacked for getting ill or hurt and receive no sick pay, and no unemployment help or disability support?

capitalism had its chance and has failed.
    Yes please!
