A market for sex exists because women don't 'put out' enough

Everyone is missing the point of this. OP isn't arguing that women should put out more he is simply observing that prostitution exists because women don't put out as much as men would like. It's just an observation nothing more.

Possibly so, but saying that women 'don't put out enough' certainly seems to imply that the OP feels they should be 'putting out' more.

Exactly. Too many people trying to read stuff into my post that isn't there.

It does seem to be there, or at least it is implied.

Bassetts... please start taking your medication. Everybody else please ignore Bassetts. Thank you.
I don't take medication.
if women 'put out' everytime, society will call them slut.

also women shouldn't have to do anything they aren't comfortable to do so just to please men.

This attitude is why you're single.

This has to be the most ridiculous thread I have possibly ever seen on this site. Yes, lot's of men are hungry for sex but it just follows that women put out more because of that. If a man wants sex, a woman puts out. Your argument is just wrong, women put out too much because men are too interested in sex.
The existence of a prostitution industry to serve men does not imply that women put out less than men. The fallacy you are making is assuming that each person only has one partner. More likely what happens is that a small proportion of men are satisfying the needs of a larger proportion of women. Say the best 20% of men may be satisfying 90% of the women.

Then the rest of the 80% of men assume women aren't putting out, but they are putting out, just not to the bottom 80%.

Bassetts, i actually with you.

While i do think its important to distinguish between those in a relationships that use prostitutes and those who are single and use prostitutes the OP does make a logical argument as to why single men in particular use prostitutes. Certainly when i get regular sex my use of porn goes down and i have less desire to visit a strip club (i've not used a prostitute yet).

With that said the feminists in this thread are also correct in their assertion that women have no moral duty to satisfy the sexual needs of men on demand, therefore the market for prostitution will continue to exist.
More like: men are more dominated by sexual desire than women and it's not women's fault that men are controlled by their impulses.... why should women have to have sex when they don't want (or in my case can't be bothered  ) as that's basically the same thing as prostitution... without paying for it
I don't call people sluts. I think the only real slut I heard of is this girl at uni who somehow managed to sleep with 75 people. And why does 'slut' have to be negative? I hear people call others that but I don't see how it's meant to be an insult.
My sex drive is higher than my boyfriends, but that doesn't mean I go looking elsewhere. :L Ridiculous thread.

I'm arguing that because women don't give enough sex, there is a market where men demand sex from women and these women can charge extortionate prices.

Many men think of killing themselves over this ya know. I truly believe if all men got the sex they wanted, the world would be a happier place.

Maybe if men stopped spouting arguments like this they'd get more sex -___-

op, the vast majority of women don't need or like sex for sex. this is why you always hear about how much they love it..........................with their partners. it's context. it's conditional and emotional. not to mention men have testosterone in much larger amounts so their libido is also much higher. ''Women need a reason to have sex. Men just need a place.''

if women of the past had the same attitude as men, we wouldn't be having this conversation. we probably wouldn't even exist as a species.

On the other hand feminists outside this thread have tried to dictate to men what their sex lives should be regarding lads mags and porn and so on.
Just buy a Fleshlight?
I think what you will generally find is that women have much higher standards than men, rightly or wrongly. Most women will tend to go for men way out of their league and at times succeed which is why fat women sometimes have a bizarrely high opinion of themselves (no offence intended). Men on the other hand will tend to 'settle' just to please themselves.

That being said, it doesn't give women a valid reason to sleep with any male, as much as us males would like it to, it doesn't.

You legend.
I think women fear social judgement more than men if they put out more, I know women should allowed to have as much sex as men but society for some stupid reason has a double standard in this case, also I feel men find it much easier to have no strings sex with someone they find good looking then women who more likely need some sort of emotional bond first.

This is a hoary feminist argument, which unfortunately has little in the way of evidence to support it.

Young (and hence attractive) women are more likely to be the victims of rape than older women. Rapists are more likely to be poor young men who may be socially excluded (and hence miss out on sex).

To an evolutionary biologist, this pattern is suggestive of rape as an alternative conditional mating strategy, although not conclusive. See A Natural History of Rape for a detailed examination of these ideas.

Of course, that doesn't mean that a rapist must be consciously driven by lust when he rapes for the evolutionary argument to work.

This is not true, the research does support my original statement!!
Follow up some of the forensic psychology /psychiatry research.

There is plenty of evidence to suggest it is not purely young, attractive, women getting raped.

Suggesting it is a hoary feminist argument is denying the actual evidence!

PS I'm aware if the evolutionary arguments... There are plenty of detractors to these arguments

Purely biological, reductive arguments don't account solely for people's sex drives. Others have commented on the double standards women are exposed to and the very real possibility of unwanted pregnancy /STIs.

As others have suggested-hormones explain only part of the variability in sex drive-sociocultural factors account for a large part.

In studies looking at genital arousal in men and women to photographs indicated women had a wider and more fluid arousal pattern than males.
