Parent encouragement of those subjects? Asian children are stereotypically known to be submissive and elements of elitism exist in their culture.

Generally Pharmacists do not need to interact with people much. That suits people who are poor at English or think it is a sin to give medical treatment to a naked man.

It maybe true now, but its slowly changing. Gove is basically flooding every sector with grads. Slowly but surely, there will be unemployed grads in every sector. There maybe high unemployment rates after a while.
And your information comes from?? Talking out your arse
It costs ~200k to train a dentist doctor or vet. If they were to end unemployed it would be a huge waste of tax payers money. Theres no way they will have too many med/dent/vet graduates unless they start opening private schools.
This has already been tried and every private school has been rejected by the GMC,GDC etc.

There are at least some indications of oversupply, and two new medical schools have just been opened as well. Combined with the fact that many overseas medical graduates would love to work in the UK, I think its reasonable to say that if the government continues doing what it has been doing, in 10 - 20 years time, there will be some form of unemployment for doctors.

2 new medical schools? Assuming one them you're talking about is aston? Which is a private medical school, not accredited by the GMC? Population is rising ~53million in 2010 and now ~70 million in England.
Put it this way, when medicine/dentistry/vet grads become unemployed, so too will every other graduate.

You really thought a degree that was that easy to get into had such good job prospects?

It's a vocational degree, I didn't know much about it, other than the fact that 90% of the students in my chem and bio class wanted to do it

The majority that I know were just people that weren't going to be predicted AAA and so they saw pharmacy as the next best thing after med/dent

I suppose cos pharmacy has great job security, high salary etc and a lot of Asians tend to be very career minded or come from backgrounds which expect the same.

Pharmacy does have good job security comparative to many other sectors. You keep on using the examples of medicine and dentistry which will be higher for obvious reasons, but you have to appreciate that they are not the only two subjects out there. With regards to financial gain (which you appear to have made a thread on), if you can set up your own pharmacy, it can be a very rewarding choice of career.

My sister graduated in pharmacy two years ago, got offered a job straight out of university and is doing very well for herself. Unless you are a pharmacy student yourself, you have no right to pass judgement and devalue a subject you know very little about.

I know more about the pharmacy sector and the current situation of jobs than most pharmacy students, believe me. A lot of pharmacy students are complete idiots.
ATM pharmacy is still OK in terms of getting a job, but even then the pay isn't great. This year they opened THREE new pharmacy schools and more will be opening because of the demand for places. The majority of pharmacists work in retail and do not own their own practice.
