Hello, I am an international student and am holding an offer from kings.
Before moving to UK this Sep, I wanted to know what pschy do UK students have for us and found it quite funny when I read the threads like what do rich international students think of us and they are spoiled etc.
Actually why I made this thread is so I can know why do u actually think we are spoiled or we are different from you when you yourself actually have a huge upper hand (fluent English) . I, before reading threads like this, thought that may be students would think down on me as I don't belong to their culture and dun know how the things go on there (though have visited UK many times as u would expect from a rich int student ;-) ) .
So to tell u about myself , yes I am one of those students who has latest macs, smartphones and my parents will buy me a flat and a BMW when I move there though in no way I think I will be bragging about it or think m better than u people and personally am a very down to earth person, this is the reason m leaving all this wealth n moving over there but still all these come with me where ever I'll move.
Thanks for reading this essay and please share Ur thoughts on why u think students with lots of moneyare not like u.
Only a BMW? A lot of people at Kings will probably think you're poor. In all seriousness by London standards unless you're an Arab sheikh or the son of the Duke of Monaco, you will meet a large amount of people who are much richer and better connected than you. As for not belonging to our culture: living in London you're not going to see any real British culture unless you specifically look for it, the majority of people in London are foreign or of foreign extraction.

And where are you planning on parking a car in central London incidentally? Best just get the Tube with the plebs, so we can laugh when you get all your stuff stolen.

Your parents are buying you a flat.

Lots of us are paying £9000 a year out of a loan, then, in my case £7,500 in loans and grants and probably a job just to pay rent and bills and get by.

When I leave University, I won't have a house or a flat, I'll be massively in debt, but have the skills to, in probably 3-4 year have myself comfortable in life.

When you leave University, you have a flat, you don't have bills, and you have a degree.

Why do I think students with lots of money are not like me, because you aren't. You have everything given to you on a silver plate.

We don't have a huge upper hand because we speak English, you chose to come to England, that's the norm, I wouldn't consider myself disadvantaged if I went to Holland for Uni, because I'd learn Dutch before I went as soon as I started planning to go there.

Why do people think your spoilt, because, without trying to be offensive, you are. Having your parents buy you a Mac and a flat makes you spoilt.

    http://www.collinsdictionary.com/dic...english/spoilt

Definition two, you've never had to work for anything.

Sorry if its blunt, but you asked the question
Just hating him for what you don't have.

Hello, I am an international student and am holding an offer from kings.

It is King's congrats anyway .Where are you from? I will be studying at KCL & I will love to meet you (at least once).

Before moving to UK this Sep, I wanted to know what pschy do UK students have for us and found it quite funny when I read the threads like what do rich international students think of us and they are spoiled etc.

Being a student, I don't have enough time to think about anyone particularly international students. Similarly, many students will not think about you.

Actually why I made this thread is

No, you needed an attention so that you can show off by telling us that you have Mac, smartphones etc Although, many home students own such gadgets and many students can't afford to buy such things. So it is just about individual's financial situation so nothing too special.

    *
so I can know why do u actually think we are spoiled or we are different from you when you yourself actually have a huge upper hand (fluent English).

Daniel9510 has given the smartest answer. (Second post/first reply of this thread)

I, before reading threads like this, thought that may be students would think down on me as I don't belong to their culture and dun know how the things go on there (though have visited UK many times as u would expect from a rich int student ;-) ) .

Don't worry. Nobody will bash you for being rich and/or spending too much money in one day. Perhaps, some students may comment on your £2,000's trench coat but just ignore them similarly many sensible students will ignore you too.*

Although, being a rich kid you will have some disadvanges such as you don't know the hard work therefore you can face difficulties when socialising with other srudetns as most of the students will be studying on loans but I don't think this will cause a huge problem for you because you will find many students with financially rich backgrounds so you can mingle with them. But at the same time, you have some advantages as well such as you won't have to worry about money & you can concentrate on your studies.

So to tell u about myself , yes I am one of those students who has latest macs, smartphones and my parents will buy me a flat and a BMW when I move there

If you are not an EU student then I think that first you need to get a UK driving licence because international driving licence is no longer acceptable in UK (you need to confirm it from DVLA). So, don't waste your parents money on a BMW because some people fail the test in initial attempts.*

though in no way I think I will be bragging about it or think m better than u people and personally am a very down to earth person, this is the reason m leaving all this wealth n moving over there but still all these come with me where ever I'll move.

If you are down to earth then why are you telling us about your strong financial condition. Many students come from rich families. Similarly, many students are not financially too strong but most of them are mature enough as they are financially independent and managing their finances on their own. Seriously, do you think that you are mature enough to study in a foreign country? By the end of your course everyone will be busy in job hunting and nobody will care about you hence you will be forgotten after three years by many fellow students provided you keep telling them about your wealth.

You are not leaving your country or parents' wealth because of us. Primarily, you will be studying for yourself. It was your decision to study in UK.

Thanks for reading this essay and please share Ur thoughts on why u think students with lots of moneyare not like u.

Thanks for sharing your strong financial situation with us & making many poor students to feel bad about their weak financial situations so that they can taunt you. Maybe you belong to wealthy family but unfortunately you don't have a class.

Final suggestions: If you are rich/best then you don't need to show off. Through the passage of time, people will know it And for **** sake please use less short words otherwise you will fail in essays

I hope you will try to get a balanced experience while your stay in UK (don't just experience one side of life i.e. rich. Do something on your own).

    Good luck.

Wow, so much resentment because someone has more money than you.

Did you even read your own definition?

    • (transitive) to weaken the character of (a child) by complying unrestrainedly with its desires
One is spoiled when one's easy access to things has a negative effect on their character. Just having easy access to things isn't enough.

I also love that you put a mac and a flat on the same level.

Having your parents buy you a Mac and a flat makes you spoilt.
I don't know how OP comes across through the thread, but you certainly come across badly.

Are you sure you're wealthy? I ask as you appear to have been sent to an absolutely **** school for your English studies, no doubt some backwater dump in Africa?

If you're in London, you'll be considered poor. I personally had a house bought for me, a couple of cars and a motorbike as well as MacBook and iPhone. I also had a Centurion AMEX (secondary cardholder). A BMW is a poor persons car, might I suggest a Bugatti instead?

If you want to be considered rich in London, you need property starting at £5 million, a chauffeured car or two and plenty of capital left over for holidays/investments/partying etc.

Good luck at uni, you'll need it

Actually I didn't know people would be hating me too much but whatever anybody says I just wanted to know the thoughts of the students I'll be around. And now I know why on other threads students were saying they try to stay in people like them and look down on us, when you get thinking like this around how can you even think of getting socialising with them when I actually wanted to be nice, at least I tried.

You are missing out on life, mate. We are way more street smart than you. We are independent. We sleep at night peacefully knowing we pay our own bills and stand on our own two feet. I would never wanna trade places with you mate. Because I am living life mate. You are just walking through life. The way i look at it, I pick my life over yours anytime
