First time in the history of the LFC threads that Zerf hasn't posted the most.

little top makes it into the top 10, sums up the last thread
    Probably my worst showing tbh

Also I didn't get any mail

excellent, gonna be a great addition to our team!

obviously only seen manquillo play against a poor dortmund team, however he doesn't look bad.
i would like to see our 3 new defensive signings playing together in the game against city.
however the concern is that the chemistry may not be there yet - worth the risk for the increase in player quality?

I won't be suprised if Liverpool struggle tommorow, United lost, Arsenal and Tottenham scraped their wins. First game of the season is always a scrappy one, look at last season against Stoke at Anfield.

yeah, not taking anything for granted of course.
united and arsenal were both expected to win comfortably, but both struggled throughout the entire game.

i'm hoping rodgers has seen today's matches and will try to emphasise to the players that upsets can frequently happen.

in my head this is a banker though - if we play anywhere near the standard we as a team are capable of, we'll win comfortably.
however as you said, both united and arsenal underperformed and the opening game is always one of the toughest.

2-0 win for Liverpool for me. What gives me extra confidence is that we took their best players (Lallana and Lovren) along with United taking Shaw so they will be weakened and they have a new manager.

honstly i'd be fine with another 1-0 win, last minute penalty save.
as arsenal showed today, a win is a win.

performance obviously matters in the long term, but right now i just want us to get on the board and get 3 points on united.

quality wise they're weakened, but also mentally too - their team has been ripped apart.
as i said earlier, they still need more players but their signings so far haven't been terrible.

Really hope Liverpool do well with the squad they have tbh. Second place with the odd slip here and there should be a good season. Maybe a Milk Cup win to seal it all off.

I'm expecting Coutinho to run the show today, he had a really good preseason so hopefully more of the same today. I can't wait till the game begins... :nutcase:

    10/10

I'm concerned that that Liverpool will show the others how its done and completely thrash Southampton. An XI containing 5 new players and a 6th that doesn't want to play for the club is just asking for trouble imo. They'll be fine in the long term, but that team will take time to gel.

I agree - soton have signed some decent players but the morale of the club in general will be at a low after being raided so ruthlessly.
As you said once they gel it'll be much better, but we would have to play a seriously bad game today to lose.

The premier league is full of all sorts of upsets.
it isn't impossible for soton to win today, however I expect Rodgers saw Swansea yesterday and is keeping the players vigilant so as to avoid having a repeat of that.

Lucas on for Can, who is dropped in the bench. I guess Can was quiet v BVB.
