    Hi,

Regarding accommodation, are we allowed to choose who we stay with in uni accommodation? What if he have special circumstances (I.e religious)?

Also are males and females put together in one flat?

Also, what happens if we apply for accommodation but don't get the grades and can't come into the uni - does it get automatically cancelled?

And finally I'm also considering private accommodation - when shall I start looking for this? Is there any point looking and visiting before my A Level grades come out?

    Thanks!

    Good morning

Just to add to the responses that have already been posted, if you're looking for accommodation in the private sector the University can help with this. We have a service called PropertywithUS that advertises houses and flats that have been vetted: http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/propertywithus
You can look for accommodation at any time but if you wanted to wait until the summer that would also be fine. PropertywithUS normally runs house hunting days in August where you can meet other students who are also looking for accommodation in the private sector and you can look at properties. The dates of the house hunting events are posted on their website nearer the time.

    Have a good weekend

Hi, I firmed my offer from Sheffield about 2 weeks ago, however I didn't recieve an email or any other form of communication from the university. Is this normal?, and will i recieve an email when the accommodation applications open as i don't have my uni ID from the original offer anymore and so was hoping once I firmed my offer i would receive some other email with it in.
    Morning

We're really pleased that Sheffield is your Firm choice. As you've selected us as Firm, you can now apply for accommodation: http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/accommoda...spective/apply

The Accommodation Service have just launched some new 360 degree tours of our villages, so you can see the rooms and facilities before you apply: http://360degreevirtualtours.group.shef.ac.uk/

We guarantee a place in university accommodation if you meet the terms and conditions: http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/accommodation/guarantee

On your application, you don't need a university ID (you won't get a university number until you enrol at Sheffield in September). Instead, we ask for your UCAS Track ID. If you've lost your Track ID, please contact UCAS directly as they will be able to help: https://www.ucas.com/corporate/about-us/contact-us

    Best regards

    Hi

Just picking up on the question you'd asked about what happens when you select Sheffield as your 'Firm' choice. If you already have your exam results (eg you sat your A-levels last year), then we do get in touch as you already know your grades and there are no conditions attached to your offer.

However, many students making decisions at this time of year are 'Conditional Firm' - ie you have received an offer and you want to come to Sheffield but you don't yet have your A-level, IB or BTEC results. For students in this situation, we don't normally send out any communications as we receive your decision via UCAS. Occasionally, a department might choose to contact students who have made Sheffield their Firm choice (but equally, don't worry if this doesn't happen).

    I hope that's helpful.

    Best regards

    Hi
I am an offer holder to study Biomedical Science.
Is the university/town nice and is it easy and quick to get to places? (haven't visited the uni)
    Is the accommodation nice?
For Biomedical Science can you take optional modules and is it possible to get all the modules you can do for this course?
I am the admissions tutor for BMS and I thought I would add to the reply from Elizabeth regarding the question about optional modules.

In level 1 our students have 10 credits free to take an optional module. Students typically take language or other biology based modules. The other 110 credits are taken up by our BMS109 Module. http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/bms/under...ndex#L1Courses.

In level 2 all our credits and modules are core. http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/bms/under...ndex#L2Courses. This ensures that our students cover all of the areas that underpin level 3.

In level 3 students choose a specialist route, and take core modules within this route. There are also optional modules, and one optional module can be taken in other departments, for example Medicine (new for 15/16) and Psychology. http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/bms/under...dex#L3Lectures

For those students taking the MBiomedSci they take a number of core research modules in level 4. http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/bms/under...ndex#L4Modules

I hope this helps and if you have any questions just get in touch.

    Hi

I have accepted my offer for Chemistry as my firm choice. I'm very very excited as The university of Sheffield is the only university for me! I was wondering how I can get involved with my future peers? For instance are there any groups run by the University to help future students connect before the 1st year starts? I know there are some groups on Facebook but I would rather join one run that isn't run via Facebook.

    Many thanks

Hi sunshine_3000 (love the username )

I'm delighted that Sheffield is your Firm choice, we look forward to welcoming you to campus as a fully fledged student in September. I have emailed Chemistry and our university communications team about the different options for getting in touch with other new students and I'll update you when I hear from them. I also like The Rag's suggestion of starting a group on www.thestudentroom.co.uk.

    Hello!
I'm an international student and i can only bring a limited amount of baggage with me, so I was wondering if you could give me some details about the University bedding pack? I wanted to know what the price is and what will be included. Also, if it's advisable to purchase it or just buy the individual items when I get there?

    Thank you!
    Have a nice day

    Hi,

Just a quick update on the social media options for Chemistry. At the moment, I'm afraid they don't have their own Facebook group and they don't have an applicant forum on other social media websites.

Instead, there are quite a few forums on www.thestudentroom.co.uk where you could meet other chemists (and applicants who have offers for other subjects at Sheffield ). Look out for these forums:

    University of Sheffield 2015 Entry
University of Sheffield Offer Holders 2015 Entry
    University of Sheffield Firmers

    Hello

The University bedding pack contains: a single duvet, pillow, single quilt cover, pillowcase, fitted bottom sheet and a bath towel. Usually, it costs about £30 and if it's ordered in good time, the pack will be in your room when you arrive .

You can order a bedding pack from the University's online store (https://onlineshop.shef.ac.uk/). Although it's not available just yet - normally it's added to the online shop in the summer (July/August).

    Have a good weekend
