You don't have to do the SJT if you're already a civil servant at EO grade or above. Does this apply to you?

If not I'd contact them- better safe than sorry. I originally never done a SJT because it carried my banked score from a previous SJT but I got an email saying they don't accept banked scores, so they reset it so I could take the SJT!

Hope this helps

I thought it was just the sift that existing civil servants above AA/AO level didn't have to do?

That's correct. The sift is also known as the SJT and EO is the next grade from AA/AO

Sorry, I'm getting confused with the Fast Stream application process, the was an SJT test on there - they're all merging into one at the moment
No worries mate!

Just completed all my tests- the work style questionnaire was long. And slightly more challenging than the academic tests. Honesty is the best policy with that one I feel.

According to the Facebook page they are seeking to extend the deadline?
Also on their Facebook it states they've had over 19000 applicants to date.... Do you reckon thats the highest number of applicants for TSP?

Yeah, it was long and I found a lot of questions were duplicated.

I really hope they don't extend the deadline as I want to know sooner rather than later if I've passed to stage 2.

I remember seeing on their facebook that last year they had 13,000 applicants and 2,000 people make it through to stage 2. Huge rise from 13,000 to 19,000 people this year. Wish i went for it last year! Oh and they also said there's roughly 200 roles this year instead of 250 they had last year

Yeah, hopefully they might up the amount of roles at the end due to the increased number of applicants this year... Wishful thinking :P

Although last year there were 13k applicants... Only about a third completed stage 1 in full.. According to Facebook:HMRC Tax Professional Graduate ProgrammeIn the region of 4000 applicants completed stage 1 in full, with the top 2000 being invited to stage 2.So I'm hoping the odds are similar this year!!

:crossedf:

Yeah, it's shameful to admit but last year I submitted my application form but due to getting a different job at the same time I never completed my tests, so I was one of them unfinished applicants (bad regret now). It does happen!

Hey,

Just a quick question, I very new to this and would like to know some information. I have completed the application but I have not yet completed the tests online. The deadline for the application is 24/11/15. Does this include the tests online as well? As I was not informed about this scheme before and I just found it yesterday!! So I don't have much time.

Thanks

Yes! you need to do the tests by the 24th or your application will not be accepted.

Last year when I did the numerical reasoning I was automatically rejected straight away and got an email seconds later saying I had been unsuccessful. This year I have been invited to verbal reasoning tests. Does that mean I've done better this time round ? I only managed 12 questions

Yeah just seeing that now, "HMRC Tax Professional Graduate Programme
Jane - Based on last year's aoplication numbers of approx 13,000, in the region of 4000 candidates completed Stage 1 in full, with approx 2200 candidates being invited to Stage 2. We held 52 HMRC Assessment Centres last year, with each centre hosting 12 candidates, and therefore 624 candidates attended our centres. There were 250 vacancies for TSP 2015."

Surprised so many people drop out or don't complete the tests etc

The 4000 who completed stage 1 are those who got that far. If you fail many of the other tests, you are eliminated at that stage and don't continue. That's where the majority fall off. It was then narrowed from those 4000 to the best 2200 to do stage 2 and so on. There will be some drop outs, but a lot more than 35% take the tests as your post suggests

how many tests are there?
Four.

Sift/situational judgement, numerical, verbal and work style.

You'd better get started!

I think that's a reasonable statement. The tests have been running smoothly since Saturday pm. And we've had since 1st October.

Plus I'm eager to know my results :P
