    your right I think - i put it as (n+1) (n+1) which is wrong isn't it because n could be an odd number. I forgot 2n will always be even. Hopefully that was the only question I dropped all the marks in

    i did

    =(2n+1)(2n+1)
    = 4nsquared + 4n +1

    there was a * which means quality of written communication so i said:
    4n is a multiple of 4 therefore even
    and 4n squared is therefore also even
    even + even = even
    and the +1 at the end makes it odd
