    Biological sciences-HERE!
I was thinking of doing biology, but I absolutely hate the sampling techniques and such. What college are you thinking of?

Hey guys I'm hoping to do biology next year. Since the open day bath is the uni I'm most drawn to, but I'm slightly worried about my grades and stuff.
    GCSE: 4A 7B
AS:AAAEbio, history, psych, and Failed chem😔)
    Predicted:A*AA
I have work experience at pfizers and in a pharmacy also. Do you think I have a good chance?
Your grades seem to be good enough! However, whilst E in Chem is not an asset don't focus on what's done. I am of course in no way in any position to say such things, but if I was in your position I would try to explain what caused this issue, i.e. underperformance. Also read up on the course requirements on the website and see how important chemistry is for their course. This will give you a bit of an idea of your perspectives. But in any case, don't lose your courage, as your predictions are great and you have a good GCSE record. Hope this helps a least a little

Thank you!! Good luck to you too. And yes I think so, I'll be a lot more relaxed when I get my first offer though.

    Sorry! What is EPQ?
    My son achieved 6 x A* 3 x A x B.
    AS: A A A A A
Spanish, French, Marine Science, Biology, Chemistry.
    He sat A2 Spanish a year early - A*
My son is at an international school in Spain.
He has dropped French. To add to A* banked he is predicted A* A/A* A.
Will his A* in Spanish count. Only 5 out of 35 got A*
He is looking at Biochemistry with Biomedical Sciences. Or, straight Chemistry. Any views please? Thanks!

Please accept my apologies if I say anything irrelevant, as I'm rather unfamiliar with international applications.
EPQ - an extended project (dissertation)

Your son has some stellar results. I'd suggests applying to Cambridge (NatSci) / Oxford (Biomed), Imperial, UCL, York. However, as you may know deadline for Oxbridge applicants is 15th of October, so you need to hurry, if willing to apply there

In terms of relevant things, I mainly just read a lot! New Scientist, journals, books like the selfish gene... But I have also helped out at Sussex genome centre, helping asses specific proteins from patients with a genetic disease which prevented DNA repair (It was pretty cool! ) And I am doing my EPQ on If gene editing will expedite for the decrease in vector-borne diseases (and maybe genetic diseases if I have time!). Other than that i'm drowning in work

It's a great Uni! It's a bit too close to home for me, as I live in Greater Manchester, but amazing none the less.
