Have you been to Muslim countries? I have, and I have to say, it is very very dominating, and I'm not talking about the lyrics, I just mean the sound of it.
Oh F*** yea, I used to live above a mosque and they had an especially shi*** guy who did it, man did bother me, even my family who were real Muslims hated the guy and his adhan. What I meant was that it's not dominating in the sense of the content of the Adhan, it doesn't say "There is no god but Allah", rather "I witness that there is no god but Allah".

If it was up to me, given recent events and the callous actions of people who call themselves Muslims. I would shut down all mosques and ban the Islamic "faith" in the UK. And may I add we are all untitled to our own opinions.
Remember: you're not allowed to hate Islam for being a misogynistic, homophobic, antisemitic religion that considers a war-mongering child-molester as the perfect man, as this is considered intolerant. However, it is OK to sing praise for that highly intolerant religion from megaphones.

It doesn't, but I do hate Islam and that makes me especially uncomfortable with this proposal.
Some BS excuse about it being dominating is evidence that you just want to criticise it because its Islamic, otherwise you'd have a genuinely reasonable justification, such as it being disruptive or something

Criticising it because it is Islamic would be a perfectly valid reason as well.

I would sign if this was done in Muslim only areas.
Could be disrespectful to non-muslims who don't want to get awoken early morning/late night
Most of the people that would read the adhan would have horrible voices anyway so I would rather not lol.
I would rather listen to a live feed through my headphones than it blaring from a minaret (although it does sound beautiful on a warm, summer evening )

At least I purport discussion, and not babyish name-calling
What? That's grammatically incorrect. And if past is any indication, we can't have an intellectual conversation with you because we just end up going around and around in circles. So yes, given the nature of your posts you are a, Aliberalstresss. Have you joined Corbyns socialist and Labour Party yet?

    We are a secular country.
No we're not. To take a definition from the National Secular Society: "Secularism is a principle that involves two basic propositions. The first is the strict separation of the state from religious institutions. The second is that people of different religions and beliefs are equal before the law."

We may adhere to the latter in most cases (although not all), but we're about as far away from from the latter as possible. We have religious tests to become head of state, we have bishops ex-officio in our legislature, we have legal requirements for Christian worship in schools, Christian iconography features on virtually every official publication of the state in some capacity (although often you do have to look closely), our National Anthem invokes God, many public buildings have official chapels, we have an official church (two, actually) which our monarch essentially leads, we have prayers before the start of every parliamentary sitting.

Without trying overtly to cause offence, when people come out with these sorts of statements, I really do wonder what planet they're living on.

even if you get 1 million signature the government wouldn't do it and as a muslim Im not going to sign it because the uk is not a muslim country and we have to respect that.
I completely agree, people seem to forget that Britain is actually a Christian country and even though we may not be as traditions and we are quite a diverse nation, I still don't think we should lose sight of that.

I think church bells sound even better on a summers evening or a spring evening, or an Autumn evening, or a winters evening. This is after all a Christian country. God bless England

This is not a Muslim country. No one is saying you can't pray 5 times a day, you're more than welcome to do that, but why should the majority of this country who aren't Muslim have to hear the call out prayers every single day?

    Exactly.
and why should people who don't believe in their god be told that they are wrong five times a day

in the eyes of a bigot who indirectly supports terrorism without even knowing it, yes
Criticising me for being a bigot is not a cogent argument. You could call the fight against Nazism bigotry. It's a completely empty and inconsequential criticism.

It's funny you criticise him for being a fascist, when in reality the Qu'ran and the Hadiths support values and ideas that are even more ultra-conservative and extreme-right than Mussolini's. The cognitive dissonance of people who defend Islam in the name of liberalism is incredible. It's like defending Stalinism in the name of libertarianism.

Did you miss the part where I said "who indirectly supports terrorism without even knowing it"?

You, thinking that Islam is a violent religion, is in agreement with all Islamist militant groups - and your aggressive hatred for Islam contributes towards Muslims feeling segregated and therefore becoming radicalised. You support terrorism indirectly.

And fascism is a modern ideology. Islam was written for a completely different society 1500 years ago. Thankfully the excessive majority of Muslims agree to ignore the violence in the Quran and live perfectly peaceful lives because they are aware of this blatant fact.

I'm not a facist, I just don't like political correctness gone mad.
