So I just started year 13 and was hoping to apply for medicine. Teachers at my school have told me I virtually have no chance :'(

    My stats are:
    2A*'s, 5A's and 5B's at GCSE
AABD (bio, chem, maths (missed out on an A by 1 mark) and computing) at AS
630 average, Band 2 in my UKCAT
    A2 predictions - AAA
I have also done work experience at a hospital and GP each for 1 week, helped out at a school for children with special needs for 3 months and volunteered at a care home for 1 month.

Do I have a chance at any medical school?

Any help will be very appreciated. Thanks
Far from it. If you don't get in this year then just apply next year and take a gap year ( if you've got a job as a health care assistant for this gap year it could work massively in your favor. But make sure you at least get AAB at A2. Give it a go, your grades are good enough for some med schools for sure.

Apply, especially via access programmes if you can (Manchester?)

I know somebody who got ACCC at AS and got an offer for medicine... Didn't get the grades but the opportunity was there.

    Best of luck

    Hi everyone,
I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone in this thread for all the advice and support. With the advice and support from everyone here I applied this year and got an offer for Plymouth!!!! I'm soon shocked!!! Words can't describe how thankful and excited I am. So here's one last thank you and I hope you all have a merry Christmas and Happy new year
Do you agree with the PM's proposal to cut tuition fees for some courses?
