I'm currently torn between going to SOAS or Durham.

My chosen subject is Japanese, and I'm worried about the quality of the course at Durham as it's such a new subject and they don't have their own department + they don't seem to have many staff that are Japanese specialists?

If anyone can give me advice/ is doing Japanese at Durham now, please reply!!

Was your offer just their standard offer? My son went on the Sutton Trust Summer School too.
Yep it's just a standard conditional offer, it hasn't been lowered

At Durham you're getting (reasonably) small city life, collegiate, prestigious university however less specialisation in your field. At SOAS you're getting London life (and prices!), a less prestigious name, but a very flexible department, with fantastic professors.

I'd worry just as much about where you are living, graduate prospects are going to be pretty similar.

Boy do I feel too dumb to be on this thread 😂
    GCSE's: ABBCCCCCCC
AS levels: ACE (in first year, dropped the 'E' subject and retook exams in the 'C' subject). Got my overall AS grades up to AAB with retakes and a fast track.
A2 level: A*AB Sociology, Anthropology and Religious Studies. (the A is a fast track subject, I did the AS and A2 in the same year)
Basically I worked damn hard last year to get my grades up :P

Applied for: Social Science, entry requirements A*AA. I'm worried I'm not going to get an offer because I've finished my A2's and don't quite meet the entry requirements. Do you think instead of rejecting me they may give me an alternative offer to study Sociology and Anthropology (AAB), as the subjects I specified I wanted to study on the social science course are Sociology, Anthropology and International Relations?

Durham is my dream choice and I really want to go!

Any UK student with an offer from Combined Honours in Social Sciences? If so when did you apply + predictions?

    Thanks
Still waiting for my offer! I applied on the 17th of November, and I have my A2 grades already - A*AB. I'm worried I won't get an offer from those grades, but hoping instead of rejecting me they'll offer me a place for Sociology and Anthropology (AAB)

    What about you?

Ahh I applied on the 21st Oct. Such a tense wait! I'm expecting something back either this month, or January.

I was going to apply for straight Sociology at Durham as well as this course to up my chances as well but I didn't, might have been a mistake, so you have a good plan

What subjects did you pick, and what college did you go for?
