Sorry, i'm confusing myself in the wording of the question. when it says the 'ratio of the first 5 terms' does that mean a(a+ar+ar^2+ar^3+ar^4)=49 or (a+ar+ar^2+ar^3+ar^4)^2=49. Sorry i'm just not getting anywhere with this lol, where am i going wrong?
    Attachment 446519
First five terms/sum of recirpicols of first five =49

No worries...I assumed that was what you meant anyway. I'll do it tomorrow....and on initial inspection, the extra seems really weird.

it was raining in places today...I hope you're looking forward to being back in english weather

I appreciate that....although whenever I open up your daily questions and see that product operator symbol a little part of me cries inside....

I was wondering if this was on the right track, but it seems like the question hints at multiple values of r? :/

Is it just r = +/- 1/2 for multiple values?
