Ian Botham - making a fool out of himself as always..

https://twitter.com/NickMiller79/status/722553413851095040/

Not a big fan of him tbh from a personality point of view, add to that his Twitter nude pictures which were down to his account being 'hijacked' and now joining the Brexit campaign to try and make people care about what he thinks about it.

Cook and Trott made a fool out of his comments anyway, both posting huge scores in the new helmets. Cook's century came after getting dropped on 0, admittedly.

The real shining light of this week's County Championship fixtures was Sam Robson's brilliance, scoring 231 in the first innings and 106 in the second, to et a new record for the most runs in a first-class game by a Middlesex batsman.

Also, full credit to the depleted Hampshire side who held on for a draw with Yorkshire after Bairstow's mammoth innings of 240+.
Sangakkara already has a century at the Oval today.
Most overrated international cricketers?

Yorkshire - in the battle of what will probably be the top two in Division 1 - are 154-4 at tea.

They have done well to recover from 85-4. I thought they were done for once Bairstow was dismissed.

A good piece on how England should line-up for this summer: http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/apr/26/why-england-should-not-meddle-with-their-top-order-batting-this-summer

The most straightforward option would surely be to replace Taylor with Ballance, but England could deploy a pair of spinners in Rashid/Ansari and Moeen and not replace Taylor at all like-for-like.

Alternatively, you imagine Compton/Hales could find themselves dropped, but that would be incredibly harsh.

I personally wouldn't mind having both Buttler and Bairstow in the same XI.

What would you do?

Shikhar Dhawan. A pile of **** would get better scores than this waste of an opener.
Snow disrupted the Surrey-Somerset game at the Oval. Is this the first such time at the Oval?

Snow at Edgbaston too! A shame to cut the Yorkshire and Warwickshire match short, given that they'll likely be the top two.

Two awesome innings from ageing legends - Samgakkara and Trescothick - at the Oval.

We just beat South Africa away, no need for big changes. Vince or Buttler in for Taylor for me. If Hales and/or Compton have a poor series against Sri Lanka then think about changing them then.

Think we'd be mad to pick 2 spinners tbh. I love Rashid, but we'd be mad.

Agreed.

Can see somebody like Duckett being called up soon.

I don't actually think he is that highly rated among all pundits. I don't rate him highly, at all. He had a good test debut and gets a significant score once every 5/6 innings and he keeps his place for that.

Listen to how the commentators rate him, listen to how the opponents say that he is a danger man. They all think he is a specialist in all formats. TBF, I would only rate him in ODI where there is no rush at all to score at a SR greater than 120 but a pressure to score at a half decent rate say 85-110

Chandimal and Mathews are the only batsmen who will put up a fight, Prasad will be useful with the new ball but the rest of the attack will get battered. Can't remember the last time a sub continent team came to England for a 3 or more test series and actually put up a good fight. Hoping Sri Lanka prove me wrong and I don't have to read the media aftermath of how englands team is full of greats.

No surprises to see Kane Williamson take the mantle from McCullum. Two similar personalities. Nothing will change in the NZ setup, you imagine. It's too effective and feel-good right now.
The fizz in Mustafizur

In a little over 12 months, he has firmly established himself as a top-notch bowler, and the captain's go-to man in the toughest situations

Crazy how well he's doing

Yorkshire vs Nottinghamshire this weekend. Will there be a bigger plethora of red-ball talent in any Wnglish county game this season? Root returning, Ballance, Hales, Ballance, Lyth, Sidebottom, Willey, Plunkett, Broad, Rashid and Patel.

If only Bresnan was fit, too.

To be fair, he is still a dangerous batsman. If he does get going (which isn't often), he can take the game away. I have heard the commentators talk positively about him, but he averages low 40's in both ODIs and tests, so he really isn't thaaaat good, not at the moment anyway.

I am not completely sure what I would rate as overrated, stats wise, but I am gonna do some research on some players and then I want to write a post about those players. I feel like the 'legend' status is thrown around way too much these days.
Which young bowler would you rather have in your team, Mohammad Amir, Kagiso Rabada or Mustafizur Rahman?
