Did anyone else use simultaneous equations to find the value of k (and of course a being needed for that).

One of the simultaneous equations I used F(lower boundary)=0
and the other I believe I did F(upper boundary)=1 or something like that

    Got k=1/9

How many marks was the P(7<R<10) question
    It was certainly 1 mark

I've done something very similar to you but I appear to have made a silly mistake, resulting in an answer of 124 or something from my quadratic formula. What do you think I might have lost in terms of marks?

Yes, I took ln of both sides and it appears I got the right answer, hope this is an OK method to use.. should be given that S2 is usually taught alongside A2 maths which includes ln in C3 and C4.
well if you got n wrong that means you got the wrong values for square root n which means the wrong equation.
if you got mean and variance right in terms of n thats one mark
if you got the continuity correct the thats one mark
if you got a correct equation in terms of n thats one mark
if you got the right n values thats one mark
if you got 0.9599 and value of 1.75 then thats one mark
i am not sure or last mark it is a 6 mark q.
so i think you might have lost 3.

Anyone feel uncertain when they look at Q2 last part on hypothesis test ? the probability is like 0.2 given the significance level is 1%, that's a huge difference, in the past papers it was usually only little above or below significance level.

Yep, esp. since 1% is less then the more common 5%

There was a question on sampling distribution of the mean right?

The calculated probability was about 20%, not even near the usual 5% significance level. I've never seen a question like this before, and I generally thought the question is wrong and tried other numbers above 50

ye thats what i am saying i got 23.69%
but i think thats right as p=0.05 and n=50 if you find e(x) you get 2.5 and it asks for >4 so it kinda logical to get a high probability. but at 1% significance thats weird it should have said at least 10%

    n > 50 would've just made matters worse

Did you use ln to find that value of something?
    Ye
    i got something like n(ln(24/25))<ln0.1
and now since ln(24/25) is negative you divide by that and the sign flips over
    n>56.405....
    and you get n=57

Oh damn, I used equals sign and backthought it to get n=57.
Drop one mark maybe for using equals sign instead of inequality?
