"I love Alaska and I'm never going back to America again!"

Kudos if you can catch the reference.
Lol! I can't remember exactly which show said it but I know it's either from Family Guy (Peter) or The Simpsons (Homer). I havn't watched either show in a while though, and sorry if I'm way off!

The Simpsons Movie. I laughed so hard when Homer said that. ahahaha

By the way, I'm what, 5000 miles away from you (I'm in the Northeast) and yet we're connecting over our nationality? Pretty cool.

I want to know what you dislike about my country and why? Please don't be too harsh, I am not trying to insult or piss off anyone. I am merely asking the question to understand peoples views and hear different opinions.
Because you're the people who have tripled my workload in the past century, have driven the Native Americans almost to extinction, voted in a lunatic such as George Bush twice, which led to the Iraq war, which led to millions of innocent Iraqi citizens dieing and thousands of American soldiers dieing.

And for what!? Oil. Everybody knows those stories about "Weapons of Mass Destruction" are fake and these weapons have never been found and never will be. And I'm just getting started. America goes to war with a country without Weapons of Mass Destruction (Iraq), yet when a Communist outright anti-American country such as North Korea which DOES have Weapons of Mass Destruction, has committed many illegal crimes against South Korea (and maybe vice versa) there isn't much of a reaction from America.

American citizens are the world's biggest consumers and (generally) do not care much for the environment around them and how it will affect the rest of the world.

    Did I mention Guantanamo bay?

*sigh* I guess the list could go on and on. I know many of the things I listed above are the actions of the American government not the people, but they are by an American government that has been elected by and often strongly supported by the people.....

UK gets bashed on American forums too. Who do you think invented the term britfag? I am not even British, but I understand a bit why they are harsh.
haha, britfag, so simple and immature yet still genius!

I didn't realize how much people from different countries absolutely hate and resent the country that I absolutely love until I came across a post in this student website.

I know I am going to get bashed for this post, but I am already aware of that and am fine with that fact since I just want to understand other countries views.

I am American and I do know that our country isn't the best, but I am still proud to be born and raised here. For all of those who dislike me just because I am one, all I have to say is that you should really travel to see our country, to meet people here our different communities and backgrounds, and just to get to know more us instead of bashing us head on. I apologize for my rambling on, but if you were in my position what would you think? say? or even do?

I want to know what you dislike about my country and why? Please don't be too harsh, I am not trying to insult or piss off anyone. I am merely asking the question to understand peoples views and hear different opinions.
Go home you fat redneck inbred.........................J OKE

People need to have a hate figure. Something, someone or even a whole people that they can fire criticism off to try and look smart. All of us have one, mine at the moment is N-Dubz.

Also, our news contains a lot of mention about things like the Tea Party Movement (and I mean the crowds with signs like "Fu** off Barack Osama" and the fact that statistics show the America is fat. Also, your media's reaction to our encounter in the World Cup only furthered the opinion of many that Americans are stupid.

Obviously all these are sweeping generalisations and some of them even have little subsistence to them. For example, you have stupid people in all countries, in fact I believe that all of us our stupid in some way.

What I personally dislike about America apart from the pretentious and retarded xbox live players it produces is its politics. I know its hypocritical of a Brit to complain of another country monopolising the world, but I wasnt around in the late 19th early 20th century. I hate how the American way is forced onto others. For example, America being economically strong, bullied its neighbours into prohibiting Marijuana in the first half of the 20th century. I hate the way how the media controls the public to such a crazy extent in America, surely an ever increasing example of curtailing the media's power? I hate the way how money controls everything. Now I dont hate capitalism as with what other system would I be sitting in a warm house with a cup of hot coffee using my laptop whilst it snows outside and I have the day off work? However I think US takes it too far. I especially hate their foreign policy, and the fact that they can persuade everyone to hate Iran for trying to build nuclear facilities and hanging people whilst the US has the biggest nuclear stockpile in the world and also houses the death penalty (although admittedly not for adultery). I hate how they are able to get away with bugging the UN and reap no consequences whilst if it was any other country, major sanctions and widespread condemnation would be placed upon them. I hate how they condemned Russia for encouraging the break away states of Georgia but had no problem with recognizing Kosovo.

I dont hate Americans at all, and as pseudo-intellectualist as it sounds, I hate "the system" of America (and I dont mean Democracy by this!) I recognize however that if it wasnt America filling this void of tyrannical world power, it would be someone else and that having one tyrannical power as opposed to two means that proxy wars arent played out as often in less developed countries.

Disclaimer: I am aware my spelling is bad. Please don't bash me too much for it.

      Come on!
      Anti-America:

      3) No apparent reason? 9/11 *****es. Al Queida flew two planes into the twin towers, one into the pentagon, and attempted to fly another into an unknown buliding, but the plane never made it. While the actual war may have gotten a little screwed up, you are a dumbass if you can't remember why it was started. If some terrorist group flew planes into buildings in your country, would you expect your own government to not do anything about it? Bush was put in a tricky spot and no matter which way he decided to move, he would have been critisized. He played the best game he could with the hand he was dealt.

      11) It is heated, I agree, but our country was built on free-enterprise. Why should we completly alter the system for the minority that can't seem to compete as well as the rest? I agree with many of the policy's helping the poor and the blue collar people, but the closer we move towards socialism, the closer we move towards communism.

Please know your facts before making an 11 point list of why you dislike another country.
For point 3, I think the reference was relating to the Iraq war. On one of your later points about Saddam Hussein being part of Al Qaeda. AFAIK, there was very little evidence to suggest this was the case. Infact, from what I understand Saddam was trying his best to crush any such groups from gaining a foothold in Iraq because he saw it as a threat to his power. I don't support anything that Saddam did but based on various reports the link sounds pretty implausable, and fed by the republican spin machine..

For point 11, so you are a fan of the current healthcare system then? Does this make half of Europe a communist state then?

American isn't hated, it's just mocked a bit here and there.
I think that if someone is sensible with common sense they will know that 300 million people are not represented equally by the President, or by the media, or by what people see of Americans on youtube.

I have come across many arrogant ignorant Americans, but then I have come across many arrogant and ignorant Brits too.
I know a good few Americans, all of whom are decent enough and very intelligent with a great sense of humour.

I think the OP needs to take much of the perceptions they see of Americans online with a pinch of salt.

Americans I've met have always been some of the nicest people I've ever met but I feel bad for saying this, many of you are thick as ****, I mean really stupid for example I went to America and I had a sort of bet with my brother that every person who believed a story I told them he would have to get me a pint and if they didn't believe me I'd get him one.

The story was just about how because there is always so much snow in the UK and that roads get blocked off so badly that cars can't get through we always keep a chicken on us to kill and cook incase we get stranded and if we go on holiday we take the chicken with us...incase of emergencies. If they asked why we didn't bring the chicken to the USA I would say because there is a reliable supply of food here in the UK it is not so good.

      70% of people believed me.

culturally britaina nd america are very different. we are much more socialist, whilst the americans have much more of a free market. some people will resent the fact that all that matters to america is america. some people just find the accent(s) annoying. some people view america as not being outward looking in the same way that european countries are. just a few thoughts, not necessarily mine

No you're not. You're a nation of intolerance, with an illegal war under your belt that you are still fighting so many of your laws are terrible and bordering on lunacy.

I don't hate America I think it's just a country of poor culture and many ignorant idiots.

No one really hated America until Iraq, ok that war was pointless but yeah no need to hate a whole country for it. Anyone who ****s off America on their Microsoft/Apple computers while listening to American music and watching American TV can stfu, in my opinion.
