It was not too bad. Some of the questions were in past paper so quite happy with that. However the question about storing a number in two bytes i was clueless and the one on distributed systems. I also struggled in the CIR question

Bold: ??? what question?! Don't scare me! Do you mean the 312 one?

I thought the CIR question was worth more marks than I anticipated. I tried to get 6 points down but not sure if all of them were valid enough to be put in the mark scheme.

Yeah, it was alright, I wouldn't say it was easy, some people may have found it difficult, but it was certainly a fair paper

Will there be an unofficial mark scheme for this at some point?

I got 100111000 for the binary. I omitted the zeros before the start.

Me too, wasn't sure if this was alright as everyone else seemed to have written it as 12 bits or 2 bytes, so glad someone else omitted the leading 0s.

Not sure what you're referring to, sorry?

I didn't omit the leading zeros as they haven't done it in the past with single byte questions. Probably 1 mark for each byte I'd imagine

Am I right in thinking it said describe how 312 could be represented in binary? I'm not sure you'd even need to give the binary value.

I hate to break it to you but omitting the 0s is a bad idea, may have lost you a mark as it did specify a 2 byte binary number. Just like if it specified 8 bit binary number you would need all 8 bits regardless of whether they contribute to the value of the number.

Thought the paper was OK, made some very stupid errors such as getting confused between serial and simplex.

The questions that really caught me out was the 312 tins of beans (I ended up putting 0100111000) and the CIR (did you gain a mark for putting Current Instruction Register I can't remember now  and thought the number of marks available was too high in comparison to what could be said).

Some nice questions such as the validation, verification, packet switching, SLC and menu-based interface questions but there were some unusually worded ones too. Out of interest what did anyone put for the Network Operating System question.
