Surpirsed there hasn't been more Muslim hatred here as TSR seems quite anti-Muslim to me, but Alhamdulillah always good to see new reverts. Was Islam the only religion you studied before reverting or did you study other religions as well? Also what attracted you to Islam the most and got you intrigued about Islam that you chose to study it?
No I studied various ones. Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddism.

Mainly Judaism, Christianity and Islam indepth.

Was intrigued me most was many of the claims muslims made. Such as there being miracles in the Quran, the Quran being preserved etc. So I looked into this quite indepth.

What is your favourite part of being a Muslim?
Honestly I dont know. There are just to many things. Would it be cheating to say everything? Haha

Have you ever had doubts? Reconsidered your decision to becoming a Muslim?
Of course. Everyother day I read new arguments and ideas that challenge my faith. But the key thing is to spend time researching the issues.

Whenever I have done this it reconfirms my faith and increases it.

Hmmm. I think at the early stages I did quite a bit. But as time went by less and less.

    How old are you now?
    18.
How old were you when you were first awakened to the idea or possibility of God?
Growing up as A christian in a Christian I think the idea of God was there from an early beginning.

But from around the age of 13 I began to analyse the christian faith and arguments from God and realised the flimsiness and became and Atheist for most of my youth.

How has Islam impacted your familial and friend relationships?
Its impacted family relationships dramatically. Some in good ways some in others. With my family certain areas have improved. Were closer, spend more time together, try and do nicer things etc. And with my sisters and brother they always try and incorparate Islamic things into the things we do and understand certain things I cant do.

However on the otherside it put alot of stress on some relationships. Mainly me and my father. Coursing arguments and damaging the close relationship we had. But overtime things have got better and were sort of back to how things were before. However the topic of Islam is one we avoid talking about to stop arguments.

With a username like "ThatMuslimGuy" and posting this thread, I get the impression you now see your religion as one of your defining features.

Would you agree with that? If so, why?

I see a lot of topics like this and I'm not criticising you as this doesn't seem quite as attention grabby as some of the others but at times these do come across as looking for trouble/attention. Given the nature of online forums, presenting yourself as a representative of a religion (not officially obviously) and opening up to "questions" generally leads to trouble.

I am genuinely interested though, in how important you now consider Islam as part of your identity. Especially considering you converted from an atheistic opinion. I know of/have seen a few people convert from atheist to a religion and those people have tended to do it more for the social contact involved in religous events and the feeling of security and comfort that someone is always looking out for you that religion can instill in people. None of them I know have converted to become committed believers in the belief system of their chosen religion but like I said more just got involved as something to do rather than read the bible/go to prayers/preach/beleive in god etc.

Probably didn't convey that point very well.

I briefly browsed through the thread, sorry if this question has been asked but: What kind of lectures did you listen to, if any? for example who were the speakers? I would highly recommend Dr Shabbir Ally, Sheikh Hamza Yusuf, Zaid Shakir and Ahmed Deedat. They preach peace and love about Islam and are the voice of the non extremist Muslims (my opinion). So, please, if you haven't heard their lectures, please do!

    7 pillars of atheism:
    1) Belief in no God
    2) Evolution is the truth
    3) Intellect is mandatory
    4) Freedom should be valued
    5) Logic & reasoning is critical
    6) Science DUH
    7) Religion is for the "lonely and depressed"

    EPIC.

This is basically a mixture of all the atheists I've had the dishonour of having to debate with on this site

Same question as above. What is it about Islam that hits you compared to other religions. Also apart from holy book what other resources did you use to increase your knowledge on the religion?
