    Top tip:
Use different colours, and if possible different style of handwriting to separate points.
I personally briefly write my point, stating what is definitely needed to know and is the main point in an eye catching colour. Then I make another bullet point,in a complementary colour, making it more detailed. Use the colours to box out info, and make things neat because messy notes aren't appealing to others, and even yourself later on when they're important.
Make sure your pens are smooth and glide across the paper easily to help keep it neat, and good paper/notebook so the colours stand out/notes are preserved.

    TOP NOTE-TAKING TIP:
Revise for a specific topic by going through a revision guide writing fairly neat, concise bullet point notes in different colours i.e. one paragraph in red, next in blue, next green, next red etc. (not black, as we are accustomed to this and it thus won't stand out as well as other colours).

I like my notes to be linear - fact after fact after fact; but mindmaps can work just as well, as long as you make it quite neat and very colourful. If you don't have a revision guide: use your class notes; use a textbook; or print out revision sheets off the internet... OR best of all - take advantage of TSR's resource bank!

My top tip is to leave a 2 inch space at the bottom of the first page of notes for each lecture to summarise the lecture really quickly at the end of each session. Really helps when it comes time to revise.
