This thread seems absolutely perfect for me! I enjoy drinking (moderately) and going out sometimes, but overall I'm a massive introverted and get really nervous to the prospect of meeting new people. Am I introverted enough to be added to the chat? x

I've only just seen this thread, but it has made me feel a lot more relaxed about starting at Warwick! Would someone be able to add me to the chat?

Hi! I'm very anxious about university as well and I'm so glad I found this thread with like minded people. I'm moving into Westwood as well - could I possibly be added to the fb group chat? Thank you

Surprised so many introverted people 1.Use facebook 2.Want to join a group chat with tonnes of freshers they don't know. Nothing wrong with that, but it seems contradictory.

    Hi there,
I think it does seem contradictory when you first look at it but
    1. It's hard to see where introverted =/= use facebook comes from. It's hard to not have an account for work or connection reasons now days. Also even if you have one, it doesn't mean you're very active on it.
    2. We're all pretty nervous about meeting new people - personally i think it's a good idea to get to know like minded people for a month before arriving for uni so we're not surrounded by complete strangers. We're introverted, but that doesn't mean we don't want to find some friends?

I hope that cleared some of the confusion 😊

Well if you're really introverted you most likely wouldn't use facebook at all, but I guess people here are aren't excessively introverted lol, just somewhat.

Yeah I totally encourage that and have nothing against it, just didn't really understand the link between 'introversion' and 'going out of your way to socialise and make friends even before uni'. But I guess they're only slightly introverted then.

*Shrug*. I have a facebook account. I just use it exclusively for organising stuff and receiving work stuff. I've made a grand total of one post on my own page ever.

I found a way to use facebook that works for me - don't add any friends! I just link to events, groups, like businesses and societies etc so that I get the updates like an RSS feed, but without the social side

It's just a thread for people who aren't introverted but think that it's cool and makes them feel a bit special if they pretend to be. Think the OP sums up the state of this thread. Bit disappointing tbh

Yeah it does seem like that. Honestly here at Warwick it seems like everyone is hyper-sociable and has loads of close friends in the first few days. Confusing really, because everywhere else I've been, I've always seen people who aren't so sociable.

Yeah, even my supposedly quiet, less-sociable flat last year was exactly like that. Of course there's still people who aren't really very sociable at all (hint hint) but yeah not too many. Tbh though, probably wouldn't encounter them too often anyway if they're actually introverted.
