Just found this example of BBC 'balance' around 5500 scientists support Britain Being in the EU. On an attempt at balance, the BBC couldn't find a single brexit backing scientist so gave equal airtime to a brexit backing professor of history (without mentioning that he was a historian and not a scientist)

"Nearly 90 per cent of those working in UK higher education will vote Remain in the European Union referendum, while 40 per cent say that they are more likely to leave the country in the event of a Brexit, a Times Higher Education survey suggests."...
As a postgrad I can assure you that most university academics would be happy to move off to the States or somewhere else for personal advancement. They don't give a damn about their country or fellow citizens. They are the most self-centred people to be found anywhere. (Good job I am using a pseudonym). Academic departments are run like the country Estate of some aristo and juniors scrabble around touching their forlocks to popular professors in the hope of funds and work. I am definitely getting a job in industry in September, after an epic travel.

So, yes, vote Remain if you think the world view of a Don suits you.

A dictatorship in which people willingly join and which we can willingly leave ....
No. If you think any party of government would hold another Referendum you are living in cloud cuckoo land. Who are you trying to fool now? No-one reading this, having seen what has happened to the Tories, would dream that they would pass the legislation for another referendum.

Universities are a hive of degeneracy, marxism and trash. Global intelligence would increase substantially if they were disbanded

That figure of '350 million' has been disputed a laughable number of times by even leave backers haha.
Actually, it is a FACT that our gross contribution is £350 million/week to the EU. The problems came because this figure does not factor in the rebate and the money the EU 'spends' on us.

If you want a cold, hard fact, we are giving the EU £8 billion a year net contributions. If we left the EU, that is the exact amount we would keep for ourselves, rather than to gain membership into an undemocratic (if you do not think the EU is undemocratic you're kidding yourself. Not all of them are voted in by us, the President for the Commission is not elected by us (whilst, in our own system, we do have a choice of who to elect - the parties elect their leader, etc)).

Also - the EU has the power to veto ANY of our policies and prevent us from putting ANY law into our country. An example that comes quickly to mind is the EU not allowing us to remove the tampon tax; although small, it shows how the EU has the power to prevent us from enacting laws in our own country.

    If you don't think that's undemocratic you're a fool.

I can't watch the video. Roberts Tombs is a specialist of immigration to Britain, so he's not completely ignorant on the matter, but I'm quite surprised to find him for Brexit as I thought he defended mass immigration.

Yes, this is also what I've seen - over two countries. I won't go in that field finally.

Most would leave to the USA, Brexit or not.

Sure they would. It's the raisin d'etre of UKIP for one. It's not the EU's fault if only a minority votes for them. I really hope Vote Leave unite and form their own party if we remain.

What the remain camp isn't tell us is that the funding for research comes primarily from the big businesses. The big businesses are mostly supporting remain because it gets them cheap immigrant labor (at the cost of the working class Britons). The researchers all want their funding so they back whoever their benefactor backs.

That's terrific. A very cosmopolitan city and many employers offer excellent opportunities for European transfers.
