It is certainly interesting that these are the accounts of the members who illegally entered the subscriber forum (I think?)

Probably won't work because they haven't posted but I'll try and check if there really is another ip associated with the vienna account

Yes he can, the passwords are stored on the server in a security format, that can be run through a translator. He could also read pm's in a similar manner if he wanted.
didn't know that (I was just going by what it said on the website).

Does a translator come with vB or would you need to develop/write/buy one seperately...?

I think (from the brief scanning of the vB website I've done this morning) that it's possible to have 3 levels of mod with vB - super mods and another type of mod have almost total (customisable) admin access, normal mods only have the "power" to keep the forum's clean.
    Our mods are super mods.

No, one doesn't come with vBulletin. You could probably get one as freeware or shareware. It just converts the security file to a text file. And you find this stuff out by reading their support forums.

The immense cost of server space for this site is no way made up by a handful of monthly fivers.

No, ya'll are super mods. The term super mod refers to a mod who can moderate anywhere. A mod, is assinged to one or two forums and has no power elsewhere. A normal mod also normally can't view ip's or change account info.

Looking at that it isn't possible for any type of mod to edit a user profile (and therefore a password).

Only a admin can change profile info. A mod can change avatar and sig.

I've had a very interesting time reading through the vB manual and having a quick look at their forums this morning.

No. The passwords are hashed, one way. If you know a way to unhash them then I think even the military would be very pleased to meet you.
