It may well prove to be a good call for the team but I don't think it'll do the manager any favours. He's looking desperate now. Calling on Beckham, Campbell, Heskey and James after they were dropped just admits defeat IMO. Heck he even tried to bring back Scholesy from international retirement - which, albeit a good move again, was delayed to the extent that it just looks beyond hope now.

    I can't even confidently say we'll qualify.

I hoped the day would never come when I saw Heskey back in the England setup. The worst thing is that it probably isnt a bad decision

That place should be given to Joleon Lescott
Joleon Lescott is called up to the England squad

thats two Tottenham players too many for England to be considered a "world - class" side.

If England lose and Robbo makes a mistake, that decision will forever haunt ex England manager Steve McLown.

James and Carson would both have been better appointments.

It's so frustrating that we have such a talented squad but when playing together, they play crap. Bad manager, but most of all, can't gel together well.

I do agree with you Jamie. But I don't think this is the team to gives the likes of Bentley and Pennant the chance to play in such crucial qualifiers. No disrespect to Pennant and Bentley

Bentley is in the team but I agree with most of what you said. I dont know whether Lampard is guaranteed a starting position anymore as recently either Hargreaves or Carrick have been the central midfielder that lets Gerrard roam he does best.

Yh Pennant recent form he shown suggest that he should be in the squad. If he performs as he is doing or even better. I'm sure he will be included next time
