Mystery Jets version of "The Pioneers" by Bloc Party

Joey Ramone's cover of "What a Wonderful World"
The Postal Service's version of "Against All Odds" by Phil Collins
    These :yep:.

& I prefer Elvis Costello's "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" over Burt Bacharach's version and The Young Knives' "Kids In America" over Kim Wilde's.

The Au Revoir Simone version of "Oh! You Pretty Things" was very good, too. Although, obviously, no one beats Bowie!

Also, there's no way anyone could top Tears for Fears' Mad world, let alone Gary Jules .

Trey Songz - Live Your Life (T.I feat. Rihanna Cover)

There's many more but here are some recent ones i've really enjoyed.

José González's cover of The Knife's "Heartbeats".
Editors' cover of The Cure's "Lullaby".
Nouvelle Vague's and José González's covers of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart". The Cure's cover is alright, but I find it too bouncy.
Hmm... not sure about José González's version, Nouvelle Vague's is okay, but not dark enough, but neither are as good as the original. Susannah and the Magical Orchestra's version is close though (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=sHhVydgvuAc)

Haven't heard the Manic's cover of that, but Biffy Clyro's version is fantastic!

Oh and also, Guillemots covers of Black and Gold (Sam Sparro) and Take Me Out (Franz Ferdinand) are rather good

To OP: I believe Freddy Mercury's version of "The Great Pretender" to better the original.

    Mercury - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=l63lFkBPogk
    Original (The Platters) - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=55wWiFi6BFo

Aretha Franklin's "I Say A Little Prayer" is better than the original Dionne Warwick version.

Manic Street Preachers "Suicide Is Painless" is far better than the original version.

The Beautiful South's cover of "Loving Arms" far excels the original.

There's quite a few others but I can't think of them atm.

Anyone who thinks Alien Ant Farm made a better version of Smooth Criminal needs their head examining, it was a good cover, but no where near as good as the amazing original.

How old are you then? Rainbow's song predates my birth, unless you're 30 or something.
