I don't think that's a good way of looking at it. Most people are sexually active around 15/16 if you're normal.

It's actually 48.6% but I rounded it. I calculated by taking my age in days (~7100) and dividing it by 40 years in days (14,609).
Actually, the average age for loss of virginity is 17 in the UK. However, that includes 25% of young people losing their virginity at 15, so there are plenty of people older than you who have not yet lost their virginity.

However, you sound like you're full of teenage angst and want to be told that men who went to prostitutes to fulfill some imaginary need to lose their virginity are actually more attractive and cool than men who are virgins into their 20s and beyond.

This is not the case, you would be judged a loser by most men and women for having to resort to a prostitute and will probably feel deeply unsatisfied in yourself for doing so. However, it is your money and your life. If you think it's worth it, go for it.

What scares me the most is that I don't think I even have the confidence to get a prostitute, let alone a normal girl. It's looking more and more likely that I'll be jumping into my car and driving fullspeed into the nearest solid object.

my boyfriend is 20 and has slept with 7 ppl before me. and it breaks my heart sometimes it really does, i don't feel special or like I'm worth something. he slept with a barmaid at my local for goodness sake. so please, don't be an idiot, save it and honestly someone who loves you will apppreciate it.

But don't you think stressing about your age and you must lose it by 20 will only make it harder to relax around girls and when you come to actually have sex?

Why not focus that energy on meeting nice girls and getting to know them, because I sure having sex for the first time with someone you like is far nicer than having sex with some random.

In 20 years, when you look back you won't even care how old you were, just what the experience was like.

    So just chill

    Genius.

Any attempt at making this discussion even half serious is now wasted.

Do it, it'll do us all a favour.

How so? As in if I tell anyone? That's certainly something I wouldn't advertise of course.
But it's not going to be the easiest thing to keep quiet in a long term relationship. Are you going to pretend you're a virgin?

And you aren't as deep and interesting as you think you are.
Seriously. Why the need to have sex before 20? What do you think you have to prove?

    Anon or delete please.

I just realised this a few weeks ago; a really scary realisation I think you'll agree.

I never used to think about things like that until fairly recently. I did have a girlfriend a few years ago, but we never did or even talk about anything remotely sexual.

I don't think I'd ever be able to do it on my own merit, should I consider an escort/prostitute instead? Sounds shocking but I don't want to be a lifelong loser, and I have to lose it before I'm 20 or not at all.
I lost mine in Amsterdam on a rugby tour to a prossy, I don't really regret it, and everyone in school thought it was a badass way to go (girls included)

I don't really see what the fuss is about, and I really don't understand how you think The Student Room will fund you with confidence or drive you away from the idea of prostitution. It depends what kind of person you are really. If you're like joelio36 (sex on tour - the welshest thing ever!) you probably won't mind, and will be glad to get it over with, but if you're like a whole host of others, then you'll apreciate it much more when you have it for realsies. Sex with a prostitute isn't really sex, it's just a lusty release of emotion/anguish/angst. What if you have children, and with them in a relationship they ask you how you lost your virginity? Would you rather tell them you waited for the one, or that you panicked and slept with a prostitute?

I'd be happy to admit I'd slept with a prostitute, I would never go abroad or do it with any non-British person though.

Waiting for 'the right one' is the most pathetic thing I've ever heard. I couldn't give a toss, I'm not looking for a relationship, women are a nuiscence to me. I just want to be able to say I've done it before 20.

It would be a lot better than admitting you were a pathetic loser who didn't lose their virginity until they were in their mid-20s!!!!!

I've won many medals and scholarships.

    I've flown a plane solo.

I did well at school and university.

I'm heading towards a good career that I want.

I have a huge number of friends who appreciate me for who I am and enjoy my company.

I enjoy myself, my life, and have fun in any situation.

I can walk into a room full of strangers and make them laugh.

But because I haven't slept with a woman I'm obviously a pathetic loser.

Got to love your logic, OP. Ever tried motivational speaking?
