Is there a capital cities version of this game?

Yes, there is - it's called world capitals in the geography section.

don't worry, you're nowhere near as sad as I, who knows their way around sporcle far too well.

Scotland isnt a country?

This nomenclature the brits use confuses me.
England, Scotland, Northern Ireland = constituent countries
Wales = principality
Great Britain = island of England, Wales, Scotland
United Kingdom = All four

The full title is "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland"

Scotland isnt a country?

From the Scottish Parliament
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the full name of the country. Scotland is a kingdom within the United Kingdom (UK), and forms part of Britain (the largest island) and Great Britain (which includes the Scottish islands). As the UK has no written constitution in the usual sense, constitutional terminology is fraught with difficulties of interpretation and it is common usage nowadays to describe the four constituent parts of the UK (Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland) as “countries”.

I suppose thats the official line on the issue.

I think western samoa is governed by the US. Reunion is a department of France. And Tristan da Cunha I've never heard of. Greenland is a danish territory of sorts, it's not an independent country.

I remember them when I heard a mate say '...the population of Andorra' can fit inside Old Trafford
With room to spare, too. Estimated population of Andorra would be around 75,000, and OT's official capacity is 76,212

(Original post by xps.systems)
no Zaire?
Zaïre is an old name for the DR of Congo, and hasn't been the official name of the country for over a decade.

Also, what about Western Samoa?
Overseas territory

Reunion?
Overseas territory

Tristan da Cunha
Dependancy of an overseas territory (Saint Helena)

...is Greenland still part of Denmark?
Yes

no Tibet either...
It is a country, but it's not a UN member (and presumably not recognised by other countries as being an independent country but still to some degree as a part of China...but that's a debate for another time). This quiz has the 192 UN member states, and also includes Vatican City (Holy See is an observer state for the UN but not a UN member state itself), Taiwan (attempts to be considered a member of the UN have frequently been rejected) and Kosovo (gained independence very recently, is recognised by 60 UN members as an independent country and will probably become a UN member state in the near future)

134/195... some countries I tried to put in aren't even on there though. And when I finished and they all came up in red, there weren't any I hadn't heard of. I really must be a nerd :p:

Yes, Myanmar is the new name (much like Mumbai is the new name for Bombay and Thailand is the new name for Siam).
