Have just seen some results that indicate female candidates outnumber male candidates by around 2:1. I just thought this was quite strange, anyone got any ideas why? There seem to be a fair few guys on here and I don't really see why these sort of jobs would be any less desirable to men than women!!

I'd like to point out that I'm male and definitely not a "meninist", but if other employers are being blasted for not targeting enough women to apply, should the same not really be true for the fact the STP appears to be failing to attract men to apply??

Just a thought I had to stop myself going crazy waiting for results

Did you get a notification of interview complete?
I went to the Medical Physics interview on the 20th and received interview complete on the 21.
Same - I interviewed on the 18th and got interview complete on the 21st

I think it does mean you've done the minimum required to pass, ie have not explicitly failed any stations, but does not necessarily mean you've ranked high enough to get an offer.

The longer I have to wait the more mistakes I can think of and the more I'm convinced I did terribly!
I know was just stopping speculation. I've been told from emails that's not the case.

Same I don't know how to stop myself from going a bit crazy...

Maybe it's just a follow on of the general trend that women who pursue science tend to do so in biological/healthcare related ways. For medical applications at uni you get a higher prop of females too.

Ah right. I never knew that.

It does seem like there seems to be drives to get girls interested in subjects like physics and maths, rightly so if they tend to be dominated by boys. But I kind of feel the same should be done for boys with Biology if that is the case. Anyway, this is all pretty irrelevant for us at the moment!!

It must depend a lot on the individual schemes too, at both my interviews there were similar numbers of male and female candidates, but I'd probably say there were more male candidates.

They said the Vascular interview which was the day after my cardiac one and one of the last days of interviews that if they could let us know that we had been unsuccessful before the 9th then they would try to let us know, but they had a lot to do so they might not, and that just because your interview status chasnged to interview complete and not interview unsuccesssful, it was no indication of whether you would get an offer in the end.

Wow, was just looking at last years thread (as you can see I'm really starting to obsess over this now!!!!!). It looks like you needed an interview score of at least 40 to get on, I think some with more places went a little lower, but they were definitely up near the 40 mark! That is like every interviewer giving you a 4 at each station, I mean I just can't see how that is possible, at least not for me anyway!!! Will try and remain positive until I get results, but just made me realise just how difficult it is to get on!!!

Oh, this wait is killing me . Anyone out there who had a 'Clinical Engineering' interview and got some updates in the status? Mine is still 'interview -booked'. My interview was on the 22nd

On the position by location table on the main STP website, what does the Travel column mean? For St George's it also states Barts etc. Can anyone explain?
The wait is killing me haha

Same here, Clinical Eng and no update, frustrating especially when Med Phys statuses were updated within a few days

I took that to mean that there is rotation/placement between those hospitals. It mentions Imperial Charring Cross as well etc doesn't it?

That's for biochem right? St George's holds the purse strings but those 4 trusts are the 4 London locations for trainees (St George's, King's, Imperial and Barts).

Yep for Biochem. Thats what I thought it meant but wanted to double check! Hopefully the fact that location choices have opened again won't delay any answers

I was counting the awkwardness, and interviewers prompting me was making feel like everything I was saying was just wrong I think the specialism one was my worst, not what I was expecting at all. Oh well it was my first attempt, I'm not optimistic

Just got the 'interview completed' update

Uhm no actually I thought 'Interview complete' just means we didn't fail any stations but might still not have scored high enough for an offer. "Interview unsuccessful' would have meant no hope left
