I think Hitchcock is the greatest british director.
Unarguably in terms of influence, but personally I've never been left in slack jawed awe at any moment from a Hitchcock film in the same way I have by say the opening scene of A Matter of Life and Death, the pool or the duel shots in Colonel Blimp or any moment from The Red Shoes.

There's also the argument that Hitchcock was a great film-maker from Britain who made all his finest work in Holywood in comparison to Powell and Pressburger who made great films about British life in Britain.

Attention Society members.

Here goes. Right so the mods and I have decided to merge the Critics and Fanatics society into one society - Film Fanatics society. This involved dissolving a society. Can I ask all members of the this thread/society to REJOIN.

Rejoin link is here: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/socs...=join&socid=82

Basically the need for two threads (a chat and a review one) is obvious, but the two societies were a bit superfluous to each other and there didn't seem much need for two, so we decided to streamline.

True, though I always assumed the 'Film Critics' society would have been a little more 'highbrow' than the 'Film Lovers' (was that the name? I've forgotten already :emo: ) society.

Hopefully there isn't so much traffic it's impossible to ever guess a screen cap correctly again :nothing:

It's not a case of it being more selective, it's a case of from now on ensuring every post is of a very high standard. :holmes:

And , victims of our own success. Who's turn is it to post a screencap, anyhow? If they're not on, someone else take on the reins please. :teeth:

Oh, also guys we're going to try and reform the voting for the film review competitions to get more people to vote. There's a discussion on it here, and it would be great to hear everyone's views.

Between sorting out the new comp, merging the societies and now getting the voting sorted out the film forum has knackered me out tonight.

It's a film which definitely polarises opinions, so should get some interesting results. What's your problem with it? :p:

Fair enough, although I hope you can join in again soon.

I know I've nagged you on this before, but have you thought about moving your Blood review over to the reviews thread? :teeth:
