    Hey! Welcome!

Well with Cambridge GCSEs are still important but priority really is AS UMS scores!
That's quite reassuring the gap of GCSE oppourtunities between state schools and private schools are unbearable to match up

I'm kind of torn between getting a decent laptop or a desktop for Uni. Laptops are brilliant for portability but Desktops have that raw performance.

Still, I'm looking forward to having current supercomputing-level performance in a portable (laptop?) format in the future. Here's hoping Moore's law keeps working its magic.

For Oxford, I'd choose Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE).

I'll quote off the Oxford Union website:

You can see their Youtube channel here.

It's for Year 12s and the next one starts next year when we'll be in college. :awesome:

If you're one of those fake Asians that don't play games then pretty much any laptop you can pick up from Currys etc. will be fine for uni.

But if you're a fun guy and you know how to have fun, you might want a desktop. Tbh, the power:size ratio for a laptop is still very good and almost comparable to a desktop's. Depends on the uni course though, both are very good and sensible choices.
Someone needs to invent a PCI-E 3.0 x16 eGPU enclosure that lets the most powerful GPU run at full power (since even the higher bandwidth ports, Thunderbolt for example, bottleneck the GPU). That way, you get gaming performance plus portability.

Just for Oxford, because Oxford is one of the few who actually offer the course. I'd choose Economics for the rest.

Requirements depend on subjects (see the UNIQ website for more information on your desired course).

    Candidate selections are based on:

    • The number of A* at GCSE compared with the average performance of the applicant’s GCSE school
    • Academic attainment and history of progression to Oxford at the applicant’s A-level school
    • Home postcode data
    • Personal statement

I refuse to. I just will not do it, it'd have to be something very drastic to make me eat it.
