That's great thanks do you know what happens regarding exams? As I have sat some exams this year will they count as exemptions?
Possibly, yes. If the units you have done match those on your TSP stream then they will usually qualify you for an exemption from that part. This can be useful if you have an exemption from a while exam, but can be a bit of a double edged sword if you have exemptions from all but a small part of an exam, as you'll still have to sit that small part and get 70%, leaving no room for mistakes with so few marks to get

Do you know if exemptions are mandatory?

I believe some have chosen not to take them

The top 200 or so would be offered a place as it is on merit. They will always try to go with locations selected however in the case that u have not scored a higher enough Mark to gain a place in a popular location they will offer you somewhere else even if u have not selected that place. This is because it is all done on merit and not location preference. They will b anticipating refusals due to location and other jobs hence they have a reserve list(met the standard but not as gd a others) in place to tackle this. They will most likely release locations in stages to help with planning but it is impossible to know who is going to accept even in the most popular locations so even though many have been talking about the planning, not everything is known.

Additionally, as some people have noticed, there has been a big recruitment drive both internally and externally which is most likely had an impact and will continue to have an impact on resources resulting in deadlines being extended.

Anyone else think the medical questionnaire was a little unnecessarily intrusive?

I was surprised, particularly coming from such a supposedly disability/equal opportunity employer, that many of the questions regarding height, weight, medication and mental health were on there. Are we accidentally enrolling in the Army at the same time?

These questions are not really about refusing you a job, they are more about making sure they have everything set up for you when you start and that they are aware of any conditions in case first aiders need training etc. For example, if you are over about 18 stone, or have back issues, you will get a specialist chair. I suffer from golfers elbow, so I get a different kind of mouse. It's those kind of things. Also the tutorials and exams can be tailored depending on special needs by giving extra time or accommodating the blind however they require.

I've never known of a candidate being refused on medical or weight/height grounds. They always try to help.

I'm 7 inches tall - would I be able to put my desk on a shelf as I would worry about being stood on if it was on the floor?

Has anybody completed the next stage yet? How does the references page work? Do I have to give a reference for every employer I've had for the last 3 years or can I choose one or two?

Unless it has changed they normally don't like work/eduction refs and prefer personal references as they get a reply faster.

I haven't been asked for references. Just asked for previous employment covering last 3 years (I think, can't remember!!). Completed the health declaration after they finally sent it out, and send it on in. Nothing else to do now.
The wait is killing me. Every time my phone beeps, its a mad scramble to check if is CSR!!

Really hope they start sending something out today... no one has heard anything yet.

The way I understood it was that you picked your locations that you were prepared to work in at the AC. If you only picked one location, and there was no space at it, then that was the end of your application.
In this event, I would hope that they would at least offer a O/HO post. Anyone who has not made the reserve list has been told that they would be placed in the O/HO list...which is more waiting! Surely if you can't go to your preferred location, a O/HO post should be possible. Not sure why they would offer you another location when you have not previously wanted to go there.

Since there is a large recruitment drive at the moment, it would make sense to use any TSP candidates who can't get their preferred location for this.

The recruitment drive is continual so TSP people would be considered if they decline due to location.

From past personal experiance they do offer another location even if u have not chosen it before they consider you for HO/EO

We were told at our assessment centre that if there was no space at the place you had chosen they would make every effort to fit you in somewhere else even if you hadn't put it down

"References may be contacted, please indicate if this is acceptable."

Anyone know when they would do this. I've stuck in my current manager but I wasn't planning on informing him until far closer to my start date.

Also I put in my manager which covers the last four years. It went to a "Reference 2" page which I left blank and skipped. This is fine, right?

I get the feeling they're not doing the checks just yet but you might want to send them an email to tell them not to contact your manager until a given date (this is what you do on the Fast Stream and they always say OK!)

Also make sure you also put a 2nd reference which is your personal reference!

I struggle to believe they haven't done a placing exercise yet and have simply sent provisional offers to the top 200. If so i question what took so long, it also makes the sheet we filled in at the ac (regarding locations) pretty pointless and contradicts what they told us. What will be will be though, and luckily I am quite flexible with regards location but still looking forward to getting confirmation.

Hi everyone. Congrats to everyone with offers and commiserations to all those who haven't. Keep applying!!

Regarding the DBS check, for this do we just need to fill out all the information they ask for when you go to "Next Step" on the portal? i.e The "applicant details" etc tabs on the left hand side?

Yep, that's the impression I got. Filled all that out and submitted it along with the medical declaration form so just the two things to do (I left candidate reference blank on the health declaration form as I wasn't sure what this was). Just sent them off now, let's see what happens...
