I haven't been able to do much phys revision recently and things I understood before I'm now getting confused by :/

If a question gives you the decay constant how do you get the count rate from that?
(Probably very simple but my memory is terrible and I managed to slam my head into a wall during my sleep last night face is all swollen, struggling to see out of my right eye... Typical! )

Activity (count rate) = decay constant X number of atoms

And I think that's what you mean right

At this point in time I suggest you just hope for the best, and make my life easier to get 100 UMS.
That rhymed, what a happy accident.

They are pretty much the same thing

both measured in Bq

Yeah if every decay produces radiation. Normally its a fraction of that though.

That's what I thought

I thought count rate was a measure of activity

don't over complicate yourself, just think of the basics and it will be obvious ... count is the number of times a geiger muller tube detects either an alpha beta or gamma radiation from a radioactive source, now that can't really be decay constant nor can it be no. of atoms, so its gotta be activity ... ANYWAYS EVERYONE GOOD LUCK TODAY !!!!!

only aiming for a low A? surely you'd want 120 ums no?

Yes they're not exactly the same as activity is more based around probability ... but they are proportional

I think it's useful to consider themselves the same

Personally, wasn't the paper for me...

I'd say a solid 38 definite marks, god knows how many extra. However that will give me my B and i'm into Uni so all is good
